nava-jāguḍa-varṇayopagūḍhaḥ
nava-jāguḍa-varṇayāby her whose hue is fresh jāguḍa — fresh kuṅkuma, saffron; the instrumental names who does the embracing instrumental agent of upagūḍhaḥ; it hangs unfinished until etayā arrives in L2नये केसर के समान वर्णवाली (राधा) के द्वारा
upagūḍhaḥ[Hari,] embraced past participle, nominative — describes Hari (the subject harati sma hariḥ stands in the lead-in)गाढ़ आलिंगन में बँधे हुए (हरि)
nava-jāguḍa-varṇayā [etayā] — by her of fresh-saffron hue; upagūḍhaḥ — [Hari is] embraced.
nava-jāguḍa-varṇayā — नये केसर के रंगवाली (राधा) के द्वारा; upagūḍhaḥ — भली-भाँति आलिंगित (हरि)।
Hari is embraced by her whose complexion is fresh saffron — golden Rādhā. jāguḍa is saffron, kuṅkuma. The instrumental 'by her' is left hanging here; it waits for its partner etayā in the next line to complete the agent of the embrace.
नये केसर के समान गौर वर्णवाली राधा हरि का गाढ़ आलिंगन कर रही है। 'जिसके द्वारा' — यह करण-पद यहाँ अधूरा रहता है; L2 में 'एतया' आकर इसे पूरा करता है।
An udāharaṇa — an illustrative verse — of āśleṣa, 'the embrace', the sambhoga-component just opened above by the lead-in 'atha āśleṣaḥ, yathā'. The verse is spoken, per Viśvanātha, by one of Rādhā's girlfriends.
यह श्लोक 'आश्लेष' (आलिंगन) का उदाहरण है — सम्भोग का वह अंग जिसे ऊपर 'अथ आश्लेषः, यथा' कहकर आरम्भ किया गया है। विश्वनाथ के अनुसार इसे राधा की एक सखी कह रही है।

sphurad-abhra-dyutir etayonmadena |
sphurad-abhra-dyutiḥhe whose radiance is a glistening raincloud — dark and shining at once bahuvrīhi, nominative — describes Hariजिसकी कान्ति चमकते हुए मेघ जैसी है (वह हरि)
etayāby her — the agent the embrace was waiting for (she of L1, saffron-hued Rādhā) instrumental; it picks up and completes nava-jāguḍa-varṇayā from L1इसी (केसरवर्णा राधा) के द्वारा
unmadenawith love-drunk passion — the embrace is no gentle one instrumental of manner qualifying the embraceउन्मत्त (मदभरे) आलिंगन के साथ
sphurad-abhra-dyutiḥ [hariḥ] — Hari, whose luster is a shining cloud; etayā unmadena — by her, passionately; [upagūḍhaḥ — embraced].
sphurad-abhra-dyutiḥ — चमकते मेघ-सी कान्तिवाले (हरि); etayā — इसी (राधा) के द्वारा; unmadena — उन्मत्त आलिंगन से।
Hari's dark, glistening body shines like a rain-heavy cloud. He is embraced 'by her' — etayā at last supplies the agent left dangling in line 1 — and unmadena tells us the embrace is passionate, love-drunk.
हरि की कान्ति चमकते हुए (श्याम) मेघ जैसी है। 'एतया' — इसी केसरवर्णा राधा के द्वारा — L1 का अधूरा करण-पद यहाँ पूरा हो जाता है। और यह आलिंगन उन्मत्त, मदभरा है।

maṅgalānithe beauties, the glories — what Hari carries off accusative plural, object of harati sma ('steals'), which sits in the lead-inमंगल (शोभा) को — (हरि हर लेते हैं)
parivīta-aṅga-tamāla-maṅgalāni — the glories of the tamāla tree whose limbs are wrapped [by a golden creeper]; [harati sma hariḥ — Hari steals them].
parivītāṅga — वेष्टित अंगोंवाले; tamāla — तमाल वृक्ष के; maṅgalāni — मंगल (शोभा) को [हरि हर लेते हैं]।
Picture a dark tamāla tree with a golden vine (hiraṇya-vallī, named in the lead-in) coiled around its trunk. Dark Kṛṣṇa clasped by golden Rādhā IS that picture — and outshines it: he 'steals' (harati sma, the verb sitting up in the lead-in) the very beauty of that tree. The doubled image — real tree-and-vine beneath the divine couple — is the whole point of the verse.
लता से लिपटे अंगोंवाले तमाल वृक्ष की शोभा को (हरि) हर लेते हैं। 'मंगलानि' यहाँ कर्म है; इसकी क्रिया 'हरति स्म' मुखबन्ध में स्थित है।

rati-saṅgaḥ kuṅkumaṁ jāguḍam iti trikāṇḍaśeṣaḥ ||
rati-saṅgaḥ kuṅkumaṁ jāguḍam'rati-saṅga, kuṅkuma, jāguḍa' — three names strung together for one thing, saffron a run of synonyms quoted from the lexicon'रति-सङ्ग', 'कुङ्कुम', 'जागुड' (ये परस्पर पर्यायवाची हैं)
iti trikāṇḍaśeṣaḥso says the Trikāṇḍaśeṣa (the lexicon) iti closes the quote and names the source kośa— ऐसा त्रिकाण्डशेष (कोश) कहता है
rati-saṅgaḥ kuṅkumaṁ jāguḍam — 'rati-saṅga, kuṅkuma, jāguḍa [are one word for saffron]'; iti trikāṇḍaśeṣaḥ — thus the Trikāṇḍaśeṣa.
rati-saṅgaḥ kuṅkumaṁ jāguḍam — 'रति-सङ्ग', 'कुङ्कुम', 'जागुड' (परस्पर पर्याय); iti trikāṇḍaśeṣaḥ — इस प्रकार त्रिकाण्डशेष।
Jīva pins down the odd word jāguḍa by quoting a dictionary. The Trikāṇḍaśeṣa lists rati-saṅga, kuṅkuma, and jāguḍa together — all names for saffron. So nava-jāguḍa-varṇā simply means 'of fresh-saffron hue'.
'रति-सङ्ग', 'कुङ्कुम' और 'जागुड' — ये तीनों एक ही अर्थ (केसर) के वाचक हैं। ऐसा त्रिकाण्डशेष कोश कहता है।
Why cited: cited to fix jāguḍa = kuṅkuma, saffron, so that nava-jāguḍa-varṇā means 'of fresh-saffron colour'.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह प्रमाण इसलिए दिया गया है कि 'जागुड' = 'कुङ्कुम' (केसर) सिद्ध हो, जिससे 'नव-जागुड-वर्णा' का अर्थ 'नये केसर के रंगवाली' बने।
Trikāṇḍaśeṣa: a Sanskrit synonym-lexicon (kośa), a supplement to the Amara-kośa.
त्रिकाण्डशेष — एक संस्कृत पर्यायवाची कोश, जो अमरकोश का पूरक है।

śrī-rādhā-sakhīŚrī Rādhā's friend (sakhī) — she is the one speaking the verse nominative, subject of varṇayatiश्रीराधा की सखी

navetithe verse opening 'nava…' (nava + iti) — quoting its first word to point at which verse pratīka'नव' इत्यादि (श्लोक का प्रतीक)
śrī-rādhā-sakhī — Rādhā's friend; varṇayati — describes; naveti — the verse that begins 'nava…'.
śrī-rādhā-sakhī — श्रीराधा की सखी; varṇayati — वर्णन करती है; naveti — 'नव' (इस श्लोक का प्रतीक)।
Viśvanātha sets the frame: the speaker is Rādhā's sakhī, her girlfriend, and she is describing the scene. 'naveti' merely flags the verse by its first word, nava.
श्रीराधा की एक सखी यह वर्णन कर रही है। 'नव' कहकर विश्वनाथ मूल श्लोक ('नव-जागुड...') का प्रतीक ले लेते हैं।

jāguḍa-varṇayā kuṅkuma-varṇayā maṅgalāni yaśāṁsīty arthaḥ ||
jāguḍa-varṇayā'by her of jāguḍa hue' — the word being explained'जागुड-वर्णा' (जागुड के रंगवाली) का अर्थ है
kuṅkuma-varṇayāmeans 'by her of kuṅkuma (saffron) hue'कुङ्कुम (केसर) के रंगवाली
maṅgalāni yaśāṁsiand maṅgalāni here means yaśāṁsi — glories, renown, fame Viśvanātha reads maṅgala as 'renown', giving Hari the tree's fame'मंगलानि' अर्थात् यश (कीर्ति)
ity arthaḥthat is the meaning— ऐसा अर्थ है
jāguḍa-varṇayā — [she] of jāguḍa hue [is] kuṅkuma-varṇayā — of saffron hue; maṅgalāni — the maṅgalāni [are] yaśāṁsi — glories, renown; ity arthaḥ — such is the sense.
jāguḍa-varṇayā — 'जागुड-वर्णा'; kuṅkuma-varṇayā — कुङ्कुम-वर्णा (केसरी रंगवाली); maṅgalāni yaśāṁsi — मंगल = यश; ity arthaḥ — ऐसा तात्पर्य।
Viśvanātha glosses two words. jāguḍa-varṇā = kuṅkuma-varṇā, saffron-coloured — the same reading Jīva's dictionary gives. And maṅgalāni he takes as yaśāṁsi, 'glories, renown' — so what Hari steals is the tamāla's fame. (Note he reads maṅgala as renown, not simply beauty.)
'जागुड-वर्णा' का अर्थ है कुङ्कुम (केसर) के रंगवाली। विश्वनाथ 'मंगलानि' को 'यश' (कीर्ति) के रूप में पढ़ते हैं — अर्थात् हरि तमाल की कीर्ति को हर लेते हैं। यही तात्पर्य है।
