He keeps pushing the gentle smile back, a little at a time. But it is soft, and it leaks out anyway.
उस झूठी नींद का मन्द स्मित थोड़ा-थोड़ा करके दबाया जा रहा है। फिर भी वह कोमलता से बाहर छलक ही आता है।

Here Rūpa brings forward Līlāśuka, the poet, savoring Kṛṣṇa's feigned-sleep pastime — a sleep that has a reason behind it.
यहाँ ग्रन्थकार उस लीला-शुक (बिल्वमंगल) को सामने लाते हैं, जो व्रज की गोपियों के प्रियतम कृष्ण की, किसी प्रयोजन से की गई झूठी नींद की लीला का आस्वादन कर रहे हैं।

He unpacks the line: little by little the smile is closed off, yet it stays soft and still slips out. Such is the sleep the poet means.
'स्तोक-स्तोक' का अर्थ है थोड़ा-थोड़ा। 'निरुध्यमान' यानी दबाया-ढका जाता हुआ। दबाए जाने पर भी वह स्मित कोमल रहकर बाहर छलक आता है — यही 'प्रस्यन्दी' है। ऐसा मन्द स्मित जिसमें हो, उस (कृष्ण) को।
