स्थल-कमल भौंरों के गीतों के द्वारा तेरे चरण की स्तुति करता है।
The ground-lotus praises your foot, using the bees' humming for its song. Because the lotus itself looks like her foot, it can only sing that foot's praises.
भूमि पर खिला कमल अपने ऊपर मँडराते भौंरों की गुनगुनाहट को गीत बनाकर तेरे चरण की स्तुति कर रहा है।
An udāharaṇa of vṛndāvana-krīḍā, "the play in Vṛndāvana" — the pastime opened at the lead-in "atha vṛndāvana-krīḍā—." Kṛṣṇa, roaming the forest with Rādhā, points out how every feature of Vṛndāvana pays court to her body.
यह 'वृन्दावन-क्रीड़ा' का एक उदाहरण है — वही लीला जो 'अथ वृन्दावन-क्रीड़ा—' कहकर आरम्भ हुई थी। कृष्ण राधा के साथ वन में विचरते हुए दिखाते हैं कि वृन्दावन की हर वस्तु उनके अंगों की सेवा-वन्दना करती है।

The row of white kunda buds, bending low with its heart set on your teeth, bows down to them. The buds are white like her teeth, yet they must concede, so they bow.
कुन्द के फूलों की कतार तेरे दाँतों की पंक्ति के आगे झुककर उनकी वन्दना करती है — मानो अपने से बढ़कर शुभ्रता को स्वीकार कर रही हो।
kunda buds and a lady's teeth are the stock pair of white things; here the flowers acknowledge the teeth as the greater.
कुन्द की कलियाँ और नायिका के दाँत — श्वेत वस्तुओं की प्रसिद्ध जोड़ी है; यहाँ फूल दाँतों को अपने से श्रेष्ठ मान लेते हैं।

The cluster of red bimba fruits, devotedly serving your lower lip, droops down low. The bimba is the standard image for red lips; here it yields to her lip and hangs its head.
बिम्ब-फलों की लड़ी तेरे लाल अधर के पीछे-पीछे चलती हुई नीचे झुक आई है।
the bimba fruit is the classic simile for the red lower lip; the drooping fruit is the loser bowing out.
बिम्ब-फल लाल अधर की प्रसिद्ध उपमा है; नीचे लटका हुआ फल हारकर पीछे हटता हुआ प्रतीत होता है।

sthala-kamalaṁ kartṛ ||
sthala-kamalaṁthe word "sthala-kamalam" in the verseस्थल-कमल
kartṛis the doer — the grammatical subject, not the objectकर्ता है
sthala-kamalaṁ — the word sthala-kamalam; kartṛ — is the agent (the subject).
स्थल-कमल कर्ता है।
Viśvanātha pins down the syntax: take "sthala-kamalam" as the subject that does the praising, not as the thing being praised.
'स्थल-कमल' यहाँ कर्ता है — वही स्तुति करने वाला।
A neuter noun's nominative and accusative are identical (-am), so "sthala-kamalam" could be misread as the object. By naming it kartṛ (the agent), he fixes it as the doer: the ground-lotus praises her foot, her foot does not praise the lotus.
नपुंसकलिंग शब्द का प्रथमा और द्वितीया रूप एक-सा (-अम्) होता है, इसलिए 'स्थल-कमलम्' को कर्म भी समझ लिया जा सकता था। इसे कर्ता कहकर विश्वनाथ यह निश्चित कर देते हैं कि क्रिया इसी की है: स्थल-कमल राधा के चरण की स्तुति करता है, चरण कमल की नहीं।
