Bheda — the tactic of breaking down a proud beloved's sulk — comes in two kinds. The first: the hero himself, speaking in a roundabout way, shows off his own greatness.

O proud one, your eyes flit like fish; your breasts rise higher than a tortoise's shell; and you are joined with... (the sentence runs on). On the surface, praise of her body. But mīna hides Matsya and kamaṭha hides Kūrma — Kṛṣṇa is already counting off his avatāras.
The udāharaṇa (illustration) of the first kind of bheda — svayaṁ bhaṅgyā sva-māhātmya-prakāśanam, 'the hero showing his own greatness through indirect speech' (defined in 15.116). Speaking as Kṛṣṇa to sulking Rādhā, the verse praises her body while punning through his ten avatāras, so the 'praise' is really self-display and, at bottom, a reproach.

Jīva parses bali-bandhana grammatically. Read it as 'baliṁ badhnāti,' 'he binds Bali,' with the suffix -ana (lyuṭ) in the doer sense: the one who binds Bali — that is, Vāmana.

vāstavaḥ tu — but the true sense; ahaṁ parameśvaraḥ brahmādibhiḥ vandyaḥ tāṁ gopa-striyaṁ prasādayāmi iti ātmanaḥ bhāgyaṁ manyase — 'I, the Lord whom Brahmā worships, am pacifying that cowherd woman, and you take it for your good fortune'; na api saṅkucasi — 'you do not even shrink'; iti upālambha eva — this is purely a reproach.
But the real meaning bites. 'I am the Supreme Lord, worshipped by Brahmā and all the gods, and here I am coaxing a mere cowherd woman — and you treat that as your good luck, without even shrinking for shame.' So Viśvanātha concludes: for all the praise, this is nothing but a reproach (upālambha).
