anubhūta-priyādīnām arthānāṁ cintanaṁ smṛtiḥ |

anubhūta-priyādīnām arthānāṁ — of objects once experienced, the beloved above all; cintanaṁ — the dwelling-upon of them; smṛtiḥ — is what is called smṛti.
Now smṛti, recollection, is defined. It is dwelling in the mind on things once experienced — above all on the beloved, and on whatever is his. That calling-to-mind is smṛti.
smṛti here is a vyabhicāri-bhāva (a passing feeling) within the śṛṅgāra-bheda — memory of the beloved, not memory in general. The '-ādi' ('and the rest') is opened out by Viśvanātha in c2.s1.

These are the anubhāvas — the bodily reactions that betray smṛti. The list is left open with -ādayaḥ, 'and the like'. The example verse that follows displays these very signs one by one.

The opening line of an udāharaṇa illustrating smṛti, the recollection defined just above at 15.54. The whole verse is a single rūpaka (metaphor), unfolding across the lines: the eyes are lotuses, the breasts cakravāka birds, the arms lotus-stalks, the mind a lake, and Kṛṣṇa an elephant sporting in it (the full map is set out at L6). Viśvanātha (c2.s2) names the speaker as a girlfriend of Satyabhāmā, addressing Satyabhāmā herself.

And, O daughter of Satrājit, the two cakravāka birds that are your breasts, too, are gripped and shaking.
rathāṅga ('wheel-part') is a standing kenning for the cakravāka, the ruddy sheldrake. In the rūpaka the trembling breasts become two cakravākas startled on the water — matching kampa, 'trembling', named among smṛti's signs at 15.54.

Viśvanātha glosses ślathārambha as śithila-udgama, 'slack in the upward growth' — the very word udgama ('sprouting, rising') carries the plant-image, confirming the arms are pictured as lotus-stalks. The line breaks off on 'your mind', completed by the next line.

…that mind of yours is a lake, and in it the great bull-elephant Kṛṣṇa is romping deep within. That is what throws everything around the lake into turmoil.
Read the whole rūpaka as one map: your mind = the lake (manas-taḍāga); Kṛṣṇa = the wild bull-elephant (dvirada-pati) plunging in it; your eyes = the lotuses on the water, now flooded; your breasts = the cakravāka pair, now trembling; your arms = the lotus-stalks, now drooping. An elephant thrashing in a pond floods the lotuses, scatters the cakravākas, and snaps the stalks — just so, Satyabhāmā's vivid recollection of Kṛṣṇa (the smṛti of 15.54) sets her whole body streaming, shaking, and going limp. The girlfriend says none of this outright; through the metaphor (rūpaka-alaṅkāra) she only hints at how deep in remembering him Satyabhāmā is. Viśvanātha glosses dvirada as hastī, 'elephant'.

Viśvanātha opens out the verse's 'the beloved and the rest'. It means Kṛṣṇa the beloved himself, and then everything of his — his qualities, his form, his dress, his gestures, and so on. Recollection fastens on all of these.
The bare '-ādi' ('and the rest') of the mūla is spelled out: smṛti dwells not only on Kṛṣṇa but on each thing about him.
