abhīṣṭāvāpty-upāyānāṁ dhyānaṁ cintā prakīrtitā |

prakīrtitāis declared to beकहा गया है, वर्णित है
cintā — anxious brooding; abhīṣṭāvāpty-upāyānāṁ dhyānaṁ — the brooding upon the means of gaining what one longs for; prakīrtitā — is declared to be.
Cintā, anxious brooding, is declared to be this: the mind fixed on the means of getting what it longs for. When a lover keeps turning over 'how can I reach him?', that dwelling is cintā.
This is the lakṣaṇa (defining verse) of cintā, one of the vyabhicāri-bhāvas at work in vipralambha (love-in-separation); the udāharaṇa that illustrates it follows in L3-L6.

śayyā-vivṛtti-niḥśvāsa-nirlakṣa-prekṣaṇa-ādi-kṛt — [cintā is that] which brings on tossing on the bed, sighing, blank staring, and the rest.
The same verse now names what cintā shows on the body: it makes her toss on the bed, heave sighs, stare blankly at nothing, and so on. These outward signs (anubhāvas) are how you know the brooding is there.
Viśvanātha (below, s1) reads this compound as śayyā-nivṛtti rather than śayyā-vivṛtti; both name the restless rolling on the bed.

O lotus-faced one, the sighing you keep heaving is wilting your bimba-red lips, draining their color. The neighbor is reading Rukmiṇī's grief straight off her body.
An udāharaṇa of cintā, 'anxious brooding', the vyabhicāri-bhāva defined just above in 15.52 (L1-L2). Per Viśvanātha (s2), the verse is spoken by an unnamed neighbor woman to Rukmiṇī.

And your two eyes, O Rukmiṇī, have long been shedding dark water. Why the water is dark, Viśvanātha spells out next (s3): the tears carry off her kajjala.
The three signs — withered lips (L3), wasted frame tossing on the bed (L4), and long weeping (L5) — line up one by one with the anubhāvas listed in the lakṣaṇa (L2).

This whole collapse of yours does not suit a wedding that is set for tomorrow. The neighbor turns consoler: the union you long for is at hand, so these signs of despair are out of place. That reassurance is itself part of what her cintā has stirred up.

upayamaḥupayama (the word in the verse)'उपयम' शब्द का अर्थ है
vivāhaḥmeans vivāha, the weddingविवाह
upayamaḥ — upayama; vivāhaḥ — means the wedding.
Jīva glosses the one hard word: upayama = vivāha, the wedding. That fixes L6's 'upayama-vidhau' as the wedding rite.

parivartanammeans the turning-over [of the body on the bed]करवटें बदलना, इधर-उधर पलटना
nivṛttiḥ — nivṛtti; muhur muhuḥ paritaḥ — again and again, on every side; parivartanam — is the turning over.
Viśvanātha reads the word as nivṛtti and glosses it: turning over again and again, rolling this way and that. That is the restless tossing on the bed of the definition verse.
Viśvanātha reads śayyā-nivṛtti where the printed mūla (L2) has śayyā-vivṛtti — a text variant. Either way it names the same restless rolling on the bed.

niḥśvāsa itithe verse that opens 'niḥśvāsa' iti names the verse by its first word — the udāharaṇa of L3-L6'निःश्वास' से आरम्भ होने वाला श्लोक — यही L3-L6 का उदाहरण
kācit prativeśinī — some neighbor woman; rukmiṇīṁ prati — to Rukmiṇī; niḥśvāsa iti — the verse beginning 'niḥśvāsa'; āha — speaks.
Viśvanātha sets the scene for the example verse: some unnamed neighbor woman speaks the 'niḥśvāsa' verse to Rukmiṇī. So the speaker is a bystander reading Rukmiṇī's grief, not Rukmiṇī herself.

sa-kajjala-aśrumeans tears carrying her kajjala (eye-black) sa- = 'together with' — the tears come mixed with collyriumकाजल के साथ मिले आँसू (सह-अर्थ में 'स')
śyāmam ambhaḥ — the dark water; sa-kajjala-aśru — is tears mixed with kajjala.
Why 'dark' water? Viśvanātha explains: the tears have washed the kajjala (the black collyrium on her eyes) down with them, so the weeping runs dark. The color is itself a mark of how long and hard she has wept.
