L1definition
atrerṣyāyā ayogye’pi prabalerṣyā-vidhāyitā |
atrahere — in this heightened loveइस प्रसंग में
īrṣyāyā ayogye’pieven toward an object unfit for jealousy īrṣyāyāḥ gen. 'for jealousy'; ayogye loc. 'in an unfit [object]'; api 'even'जो विषय ईर्ष्या के योग्य नहीं, उसमें भी
prabalerṣyā-vidhāyitāthere is the producing of powerful jealousyप्रबल ईर्ष्या का उत्पन्न कर देना
atra — here, in this state; īrṣyāyāḥ ayogye api — even in an object unfit for jealousy; prabala-īrṣyā-vidhāyitā — the producing of powerful jealousy [is a sign].
Here, in this exalted love, powerful jealousy is produced even toward something that could never normally be a rival — something not fit to be an object of jealousy at all.
The first defining sign (lakṣaṇa) of the state treated here. 'Unfit' object: one that would never ordinarily provoke jealousy — Jīva pins this to an insentient thing (see his comment).
L2definition
sadā-bhoge’pi tad-gandha-mātrādhāra-stavādayaḥ ||
sadā-bhoge’pieven while [Kṛṣṇa] is being enjoyed without pause loc. 'even when constant enjoyment of him is going on'; api 'even'निरन्तर भोग (संग-सुख) प्राप्त होने पर भी
tad-gandha-mātrādhāratoward the mere holders of a trace of his scent tat 'him, Kṛṣṇa'; gandha-mātra 'a bare scent'; ādhāra 'the vessels that hold it'उस (कृष्ण) की केवल गन्ध-मात्र को धारण करने वाली वस्तुओं की
stavādayaḥ[there arise] praising him and the like stava 'praise-hymn'; ādi 'and so on'स्तुति आदि करना
sadā-bhoge api — even while enjoying him ceaselessly; tad-gandha-mātra-ādhāra — toward whatever merely carries a trace of his scent; stava-ādayaḥ — praising and the rest [arise].
The second sign: even while she is enjoying Kṛṣṇa without a break, she bursts into praise of anything that carries so much as a whiff of his scent.
The second defining sign. Together L1–L2 make up the lakṣaṇa verse; the next verse (L3–L6) illustrates it.

Together with us — the pure, doe-eyed girls of Vraja — day and night... (the sentence runs on into the next line).
The illustrative verse (udāharaṇa), spoken by Rādhā to Kṛṣṇa's forest-garland. It illustrates the sign of L1: powerful jealousy flaring even toward an unfit, insentient object — here, the garland on Kṛṣṇa's chest.

ā-śikham 'up to the crest' (here) and ā-pādam 'down to the feet' (L6) form a head-to-foot pair: the garland embraces Kṛṣṇa's entire body.

iti bhāvaḥsuch is the purportऐसा तात्पर्य है
cetanā-śūnyatvāt — because it is devoid of consciousness; iti bhāvaḥ — that is the sense [of calling the object 'unfit'].
Jīva's point: the object is called 'unfit' for jealousy because it is insentient — it has no consciousness at all. (Yet in this exalted love, jealousy toward even that flares up — the garland being the case in point.)

Viśvanātha widens the 'and-so-on' of the verse: at one and the same instant she tastes millions of joys — seeing Kṛṣṇa, kissing him, embracing him, uniting with him, and more.

An analogy. A karma-bound soul can sometimes burn through, in a single ghaṭikā, the pleasures and pains meant to be spread over millions of aeons. But he manages it only by splitting himself into many bodies at once. Map it: the soul is like Rādhā, the crore-aeon experiences packed into one moment are like her millionfold joys tasted in a single instant. The analogy holds for the compression into one moment — but it breaks at the means, and that break is the very point (next sentence).

But with Rādhā there is no such device — no splitting into many bodies. In her one body she tastes it all at once. That is the difference between her and the karma-bound soul.

dāna-līlā — the 'toll' pastime at Govardhana, where Kṛṣṇa blocks the gopīs' path and demands a toll. Viśvanātha supplies this as the scene of the verse.
