Jīva unpacks the line: 'the foot placed on the head' — kṛtam just means 'set down'; pādam is 'my foot'; visṛja is 'let it go.'

One might ask: if the bee is only pleading for pardon, why is she so angry? Jīva answers: because she says, in effect, 'you came from Mukunda and learned these coaxing arts from him alone — so with your flatteries I know you through and through, whatever is hidden in your heart.' The object 'whatever is in your heart' has to be supplied.

The imagined plea: 'Mistress, have done with this quarrel with him, who is worth ten million of your life-breaths — rather, let peace be made through me, a holy ford between you.' She answers with the next quarter. Viśvanātha glosses it: sva-kṛte, 'for his sake'; visṛṣṭa, 'cast off'; and 'children, husbands, and other folk' — the last meaning parents and such — are the things the gopīs threw away. Or read it this way: at the hour of his flute the gopīs, shut inside their houses, left their children behind, since right then they abandoned them and ran out to him.
