vyaktayā asūyayā — with open jealousy; gūḍha-māna-mudrā-antarālayā — [a jealousy] whose interior hides the mark of māna.
The jealousy on the surface is out in the open; but tucked away inside it is the stamp of māna — jealous, sulking pride. Two layers: plain jealousy above, concealed pride beneath.

Such a speech — flung at Kṛṣṇa with a sidelong glance — is what the learned call vijalpa.

An udāharaṇa of vijalpa, the lakṣaṇa just defined in L1-L2; it is Bhāgavata 10.47.13, the opening of the Bhramara-gīta. Rādhā, in her love-madness, addresses a bee she takes for a messenger sent by Kṛṣṇa (now gone to Mathurā), and mocks it with jealousy laid over hidden pride.

In the verse's first half, the jealousy on show is the kind that lets her hidden pride peek through — matching the lakṣaṇa's 'open jealousy with māna tucked inside.'

And in the second half comes the sidelong glance — this one purely mocking. So the two halves of the verse supply the two parts of the definition: jealousy-with-pride, then the mocking glance.

Suppose the bee whines, 'Then at least give me some old cloth or garland off your own body.' She turns the word 'purāṇam' back on it: 'You sing scripture — you quote the Purāṇa itself to prove he is lord of the Yadus!' Viśvanātha catches the śleṣa: purāṇam is both 'the ancient one' (Kṛṣṇa) and 'the Purāṇa' the bee cites as evidence.

paśuḥ tāvat catuṣpāt — a beast has four feet; tvaṁ tu ṣaṭpadaḥ sārdha-paśuḥ — but you, six-footed, are a beast-and-a-half; kutra kiṁ vā gātum ucitam buddhy-abhāvāt na jānāsi — witless, you know not where or what to sing; paśutvāt purāṇaṁ kathaṁ jānāsi — being a beast, how would you know the Purāṇa?

Now the mockery bites: a beast has four feet — but you have six, which makes you a beast-and-a-half. With no more brains than that, you cannot tell where or what is fit to sing. And a mere animal — how could you possibly know your scripture, or the Ancient One you claim to sing?

tasyāḥ mukhāt svayaṁ niḥsṛtā iti jñeyamit slipped out of her own mouth by itself — so it should be understoodयह बात उसके मुख से स्वयं ही निकल पड़ी — ऐसा जानना चाहिए
yad vā śleṣeṇa — or, by a pun; pūrvaṁ saḥ subala-sakha āsīt, samprati vijayaḥ arjunaḥ tasya sakhā abhavat — once he was Subala's friend, now Arjuna (Vijaya) is his friend; iti bhāvitā-arthā api tasyāḥ mukhāt svayaṁ niḥsṛtā iti jñeyam — though a future meaning, it escaped her lips on its own.

Or else — and here Viśvanātha foregrounds the śleṣa — 'vijaya-sakha' hides a second reading: 'friend of Vijaya,' and Vijaya is a name of Arjuna. In Vraja days Kṛṣṇa was 'Subala's friend'; only later, in Dvārakā/Kurukṣetra days, would he become 'Arjuna's friend.' Rādhā cannot know that future — yet the prophetic word slips out of her own mouth unbidden. Viśvanātha leaves this second layer standing beside the first; it is not resolved into it.
