This whole thing is the passage known as the Bhramara-gīta, the 'Song to the Bee.' It was brought to light in the Tenth Canto [of the Bhāgavata].
यही चित्र-जल्प, जिसका नाम भ्रमर-गीत है, दशम स्कन्ध में प्रकट किया गया है।
Bhramara-gīta: the song addressed to a bee — the locus where this variegated talk is displayed.
भ्रमर-गीत — भौंरे को सम्बोधित करके गाया गया वह गीत, जहाँ यह नाना रंगों वाली बातचीत प्रकट होती है।

asaṅkhya-bhāva-vaicitrīby the endless variety of [its] countless inner emotions the variegation (vaicitrī) works instrumentally — it is what makes the talk hard to fathomक्योंकि उसमें असंख्य भावों की विचित्रता है
camatkṛti-sudustaraḥis exceedingly hard to fathom, through the wonder [that variety stirs] su-dustara 'very hard to cross'; camatkṛti (the wonder) folded in as the causeअपने चमत्कार के कारण अत्यन्त दुर्गम (जिसे पार पाना बहुत कठिन)
asaṅkhya-bhāva-vaicitrī — by the endless variety of countless emotions; camatkṛti-sudustaraḥ — it is very hard to fathom, through the wonder [it stirs]
asaṅkhya-bhāva-vaicitrī — असंख्य भावों की विचित्रता के कारण; camatkṛti-sudustaraḥ — चमत्कार के कारण अत्यन्त दुर्गम।
Its countless inner emotions come in endless variety. The wonder this stirs makes the citra-jalpa extremely hard to fathom.
इसमें असंख्य भावों की विचित्रता है। इसी से इसका चमत्कार ऐसा है कि इसका पार पाना अत्यन्त कठिन है।
bhāva here = citta-vṛtti, the movements of the heart; their sheer number and variety are what defeat easy analysis.
यहाँ भाव का अर्थ है चित्त-वृत्ति, अर्थात् हृदय की हलचलें; इन्हीं की असंख्यता और विविधता इसका सहज विश्लेषण असम्भव बना देती है।

api cet — even though [it is so hard to fathom]; ayaṁ citra-jalpaḥ — this citra-jalpa; tad api — yet even so; manāk — a little; kathyate — is described
api cet — यद्यपि; citra-jalpaḥ ayam — यह चित्र-जल्प; manāk — थोड़ा-सा; tad api — तो भी; kathyate — कहा जाता है।
Even though this citra-jalpa is so hard to fathom, still it will be described here — a little.
यद्यपि यह चित्र-जल्प (इतना दुर्गम) है, तो भी इसका थोड़ा-सा वर्णन किया जाता है।
The concessive 'api cet ... tad api' is a pratijñā: hard as it is, the author resolves to expound at least a little of it.
'यद्यपि… तो भी' यह छूट-वाची रचना एक प्रतिज्ञा है — कितना ही कठिन क्यों न हो, ग्रन्थकार कम-से-कम थोड़ा-सा वर्णन करने का संकल्प करते हैं।

api ced iti |
api cet[the mūla's words] 'api cet' [he takes up]'अपि चेत्'
iti— this is the phrase he now glosses iti marks the quoted lemma (pratīka) being picked up'इति' — इस उद्धृत पद (प्रतीक) को लेकर
'api cet' iti — [on the words] 'api cet'
api cet — 'अपि चेत्'; iti — इस उद्धृत पद को (प्रतीक के रूप में) लेकर।
Jīva picks up the mūla's phrase 'api cet' to explain it.
'अपि चेत्' — इस पद को उद्धृत करके (व्याख्या की जाती है)।
A pratīka: the commentator quotes just the words he is about to gloss.
यह एक प्रतीक है — व्याख्याकार केवल उन्हीं शब्दों को उद्धृत करता है जिनकी वह अभी व्याख्या करने जा रहा है।
s2gloss
yadyapīty arthaḥ ||
yadi apiit means 'yadyapi' — 'even though, although'यद्यपि
iti arthaḥ— that is the sense [of 'api cet'] iti arthaḥ closes the gloss: 'such is the meaning'ऐसा अर्थ है (इस पद से व्याख्या समाप्त होती है)
yadi api iti arthaḥ — the meaning is 'yadyapi,' 'although'
yadi api — यद्यपि; iti arthaḥ — ऐसा अर्थ है।
It means 'yadyapi' — 'although.' So Jīva reads the mūla's 'api cet' as the plain concessive 'even though.'
यहाँ 'अपि चेत्' का अर्थ 'यद्यपि' है — ऐसा अभिप्राय है।
Jīva settles the particle: 'api cet' here is not conditional ('if also') but concessive ('although') — matching the 'tad api,' 'yet even so,' that answers it.
जीव इस निपात का निर्णय करते हैं — यहाँ 'अपि चेत्' शर्त-वाची ('यदि भी') नहीं, अपितु 'यद्यपि' के अर्थ में है, जो आगे आने वाले 'तद् अपि' ('तो भी') से मेल खाता है।
