śaraj-jyotsnī rāse vidhi-rajani-rūpāpi nimiṣād
śaraj-jyotsnīthe autumn-moonlit night — the night bright with autumn moonlight (jyotsnī = 'having moonlight', describing rātri)शरद् ऋतु की चाँदनी से युक्त (रात्रि)
rāseduring the rāsa dance locative of time/place — 'in, at' the rāsaरासोत्सव में
vidhi-rajani-rūpā apithough it was of the form of a night of Brahmā (vidhi = Brahmā, rajani = night); api = 'even though' it was that vast api concedes the night's aeon-length before the wonder is deniedब्रह्मा की रात्रि के रूप वाली (उतनी लम्बी) होकर भी
nimiṣādthan a single wink — the yardstick it fell short of ablative of comparison, feeding atikṣudrā in L2 ('tinier than…')
rāse — during the rāsa; śaraj-jyotsnī [rātriḥ] — the autumn-moonlit night; vidhi-rajani-rūpā api — though it was a night of Brahmā; nimiṣāt — [tinier] than a wink
On the rāsa night, the autumn moonlight stretched as long as a whole night of Brahmā. And yet, for the gopīs, that immense night ran out shorter than a single blink.
An udāharaṇa illustrating kalpa-kṣaṇatvam — 'an aeon [experienced] as a single moment' (the lead-in: kalpa-kṣaṇatvam, yathā—). Per Viśvanātha the verse is spoken by Paurṇamāsī to Nāndīmukhī. Watch the running play on kalpa across the verse (see L3–L4).
L2example
atikṣudrā tāsāṁ yad ajani na tad vismaya-padam |
atikṣudrābecame far tinier [than a wink] — the predicate completing nimiṣāt of L1अत्यन्त छोटी (हो गई)
tāsāṁfor them — for the gopīs, in whose experience the night shrank genitive of the experiencers ('to/for them')उन (गोपियों) के लिए
yad ajanithat it turned out so yat … tat correlative; ajani = aorist passive, 'became, came to be'जो (रात्रि ऐसी) हो गई
na tad vismaya-padamthat is no ground for wonder (vismaya-pada = an object/occasion of astonishment); na negates itवह आश्चर्य की बात नहीं
tāsāṁ — for them; [rātriḥ] atikṣudrā — the night became far tinier [than a wink]; yat ajani — that it turned out so; tat — that; vismaya-padam na — is no ground for wonder
That such a vast night shrank to less than a blink for the gopīs — this, he says, is nothing to marvel at. The next lines explain why it is only to be expected.

sukhotsekārambhe nimiṣa-lava-kalpām iva daśāṁ
sukhotsekārambheat the very onset of the swelling of joy — the instant their flood of happiness first begins to rise locative of time; sukha-utseka = the surge/overflow of joy, ārambha = its mere startसुख के उमड़ने के आरम्भ में ही
nimiṣa-lava-kalpāmresembling a sliver of a wink — here kalpa means 'like, resembling' accusative, describing daśāṁ; first of the kalpa puns — kalpa = 'resembling'निमेष के लव (एक अंश) के समान
ivaas if, likeमानो
daśāṁa condition, a state — what the time-reckoning comes down to accusative, object of labhate in L4(ऐसी) दशा को
sukha-utseka-ārambhe — at the very onset of the swelling of joy; [kāla-kalanā] nimiṣa-lava-kalpāṁ daśāṁ iva — a state as if resembling a sliver of a wink
The moment their joy just starts to overflow, the whole reckoning of time collapses into something like a fraction of a single blink.

mahā-kalpākalpāpy ahaha labhate kāla-kalanā ||
mahā-kalpākalpāpythough it is a mahā-kalpa (a full aeon) it is a-kalpā (powerless, unfit) — the śleṣa on kalpa: the vast time-span is itself no match; api = 'even though' mahā-kalpa (aeon) + a-kalpā ('incapable', from a- + kalp 'to be able') read together — the headline punमहाकल्प (एक महान् कल्प) भी असमर्थ होकर भी
ahahaah! — a cry of wonderअहो!
labhatecomes down to, attains 3rd sg. middle; governs daśāṁ from L3प्राप्त करती है (L3 की दशा को)
kāla-kalanāthe reckoning of time — the subject; the counting-up of duration nominative subject; kalanā puns again on kal — here 'reckoning, counting'काल की गणना (गिनती)
kāla-kalanā — the reckoning of time; mahā-kalpa-akalpā api — though a whole aeon, [yet] powerless; ahaha — ah!; [nimiṣa-lava-kalpāṁ daśāṁ] labhate — comes down to [a state like a sliver of a wink]
Ah! — the counting of time, though it stands as a great aeon (mahā-kalpa), is at the same time a-kalpa, no match at all: it comes down to something like a splinter of one blink. The verse pivots on the word kalpa — 'aeon', 'incapable', and 'resembling' all sounded together.
The śleṣa is the verse's point. mahā-kalpākalpā = mahā-kalpa ('a great aeon') + a-kalpā ('unable, no match'): even an aeon's worth of time is powerless to register in the gopīs' joy. Combined with nimiṣa-lava-kalpām (L3, kalpa = 'resembling') and kalanā (kal = 'to reckon'), the single syllable kalp rings through the whole verse.

Jīva props up the 'night of Brahmā' reading with two scriptural supports. First, Śrīdhara Svāmī, commenting on 'the moon with his host was astonished' (Bhāgavata 10.33.19), established that this rāsa night was extraordinarily long. Second, on 'when the night of Brahmā had come round' (Bhāgavata 10.33.38), some commentators explain it the very same way. So the claim that the rāsa night was a night of Brahmā, he says, holds together.
Why cited: Adduced to ground the verse's vidhi-rajani ('night of Brahmā') claim in scripture: Śrīdhara Svāmī on BhP 10.33.19 fixes the night's immense length, and 'some' commentators on BhP 10.33.38 read 'when Brahmā's night had come round' the same way — so the reading is not a poetic exaggeration but consistent with the Bhāgavata.

sambabhūva itiso it came about — thus [he explains] iti closes the explanation(ऐसा) हुआ — इस प्रकार
tat ca jyotiḥ — and that light; tan-mādhuryeṇa — by his sweetness; nadyādīnām iva stambhanāt — because of an arrest, as of the rivers and the rest; cakāsy eva — simply kept shining; sambabhūva iti — thus it came about
And how did that long-lasting light arise? By Kṛṣṇa's sweetness there was an arresting — just as the rivers and the like were stopped in their course during the rāsa — so the moon's light too was held fast and simply went on shining. That, Jīva concludes, is how the night stretched so long.

Viśvanātha sets the frame: this is Paurṇamāsī speaking to Nāndīmukhī. The autumn moonlit night, he says, though it equals a whole night of Brahmā, [shrank to a moment]. Why? Because at the very first swelling of the gopīs' joy, even a mahā-kalpa — a full hundred years of Brahmā — is 'akalpa', powerless and tiny; even that vast reckoning of time comes to feel like a mere sliver of a blink. He is careful to read the pun: the aeon (mahā-kalpa) is at once a-kalpa, 'incapable'. And he glosses the hard words — kāla-kalanā as 'the counting of time', nimiṣa-lava-kalpā as 'resembling a sliver of a wink'.

A quick grammar note: the verbal root kala means 'to count'. That is why he glossed kāla-kalanā as 'the reckoning / counting of time'.
The form 'kala saṅkhyāne' is a Dhātupāṭha citation (verbal root followed by its sense in the locative). It grounds taking kalanā (from kal) as 'reckoning, counting', not as any other sense of kalp.
