yathā vā itithe verse 'yathā vā …''
uktodāharaṇaṁ — the previous example; māñjiṣṭha-rāgasya lakṣaṇākāram abhūt — became like a definition of māñjiṣṭha-rāga; iti aparituṣyan — being unsatisfied at this; āha — he says; yathā vā iti — 'yathā vā.'
The example given just before had drifted into being almost a definition of māñjiṣṭha-rāga. Unsatisfied that it read as a definition rather than an illustration, Rūpa offers a further one — 'yathā vā.'
māñjiṣṭha-rāga: love dyed like madder (mañjiṣṭhā), a dye whose deep red never fades — the grade of attachment fixed so fast it can never be washed out.

Viśvanātha fills in the drama: in pūrva-rāga, Paurṇamāsī was testing Rādhā's love, pressing the argument that she could never be worthy of Kṛṣṇa. To this Rādhā answers — 'mayā.'

He recalls Paurṇamāsī's own earlier taunt (Vidagdha-mādhava 3.16): you are only old Jaraṭī's granddaughter, while he is the lord whose feet even Lakṣmī serves.
Why cited: Quoted to recall Paurṇamāsī's disparity argument — Rādhā a lowly cowherd girl, Kṛṣṇa the lord served by Lakṣmī — the very charge of unfitness that Rādhā now slips past by asking only to be a bee at his garland.

tatra āhāryatvaṁ — here, its irremovability; paurṇamāsyāḥ tādṛśa-vākya-uttha-dainya-sañcāri-prābalyena api — even by the strength of the dainya roused by Paurṇamāsī's words; rāgasya api anapagamāt — because the rāga still did not go away.
Here we see rāga's irremovability. Paurṇamāsī's discouraging words stirred up a powerful surge of dainya — a transient mood of helpless humility. Yet even that could not drive the rāga out. What cannot be dislodged even by its opposite is, by definition, irremovable.
dainya (helpless humility) is a sañcāri-bhāva, a passing supportive emotion, not an abiding love. The point is contrastive: a passing mood, however strong, cannot uproot rāga, an abiding love — like a gust that bends but cannot fell a rooted tree, whereas it would scatter loose leaves. Read āhāryatva here as a-hāryatva, 'not-to-be-taken-away.'

ananya-sāpekṣatvaṁ tu spaṣṭam eva |
ananya-sāpekṣatvaṁ tuas for the other mark — that it looks to nothing and no one but himअनन्य-सापेक्षता तो
spaṣṭam evathat is plain on the face of itस्पष्ट ही है
ananya-sāpekṣatvaṁ tu — as for its depending on none but him; spaṣṭam eva — it is perfectly obvious.
The second mark — that this love leans on nothing and no one but Kṛṣṇa — is obvious on the face of the verse and needs no arguing.

Viśvanātha closes with the general definition of rāga. She begs even for a bee's birth, for the sake of added loveliness at his garland, and she speaks the whole line 'but toward me, spread this blessing…' with sheer delight — not grief. So even the anguish of surrendering her body is tasted as joy. That taste — where pain itself turns to pleasure for the beloved's sake — is the general defining mark of rāga.
