How on earth could your tongue ever tell a lie? — that very tongue which, as she is about to say, belongs to thousands of chaste women.
An udāharaṇa of narma-lalita ('playful-charming teasing'), quoted from Dāna-keli-kaumudī 90. Spoken by Lalitā to Kṛṣṇa in the dāna-līlā (the toll-game); the whole praise is teasing, and the commentary will show it means the reverse.

raktaḥ carries a śleṣa in the word itself: 'impassioned / loving' and, literally, 'red'. The commentary here takes only the 'loving' sense.

Here is the real point. Given who is speaking (Lalitā) and whom she is talking about (Kṛṣṇa), the whole praise is meant ironically. By viparīta-lakṣaṇā — words taken in their opposite sense — and by the dhvani that discards the literal meaning outright, the verse actually conveys the reverse of its surface: that Kṛṣṇa lies, that he is merciless, and that he is utterly lecherous. So the tongue 'that cannot lie' brands him a liar; the hand 'too tender to touch a knot' brands him a shameless force.
viparīta-lakṣaṇā: ironic indication — words carry the sense opposite to their surface, as calling a coward 'what a hero!' means the reverse. atyanta-tiraskṛta-vācya-dhvani: a type of dhvani (poetic suggestion) in which the stated literal meaning is 'wholly dismissed' and only the suggested meaning stands. Both work here because the speaker (vaktṛ) and the subject (boddhavya) are known — a gopī teasing Kṛṣṇa about his own reputation.
