bhūmnā vyapadeśā bhavanti iti nyāyenaby the maxim 'a thing is named for what predominates in it' bhūmnā = instrumental, 'by the greater part / the predominant'; a Mīmāṁsā-style nyāya'जो प्रधान (अधिक) हो, उसी से नाम पड़ता है' — इस न्याय के अनुसार

vaktum āhain order to state [this], he speaks vaktum = infinitive of purpose; āha = Rūpa Gosvāmī says the verseकहने के लिए (रूप गोस्वामी) कहते हैं
yathā vā itithe words 'yathā vā' (or again, as in…) quoting the lead-in that opens the illustration'यथा वा' ऐसा (कहकर उदाहरण आरम्भ करते हैं)
bhūmnā vyapadeśā bhavanti iti nyāyena — by the maxim that names follow the predominant; śrī-rādhā suhṛtsu api — that Śrī Rādhā, even among her friends; madhu-snehaṁ tad-utthaṁ kauṭilya-lalitaṁ ca — has madhu-sneha and the charming crookedness born of it; vaktum āha yathā vā iti — to state this, he says 'yathā vā'.
By the maxim 'a thing takes its name from what predominates in it', Rūpa Gosvāmī now speaks to show that Śrī Rādhā carries madhu-sneha — honey-sweet affection — even toward her girlfriends, and the charming crookedness (kauṭilya-lalita) that grows out of that affection. To say this, he gives the verse, opening with 'yathā vā'.
bhūmnā vyapadeśā bhavanti — a maxim from the Mīmāṁsā/Vedānta tradition: an appellation is fixed by the predominant element, not by a minor one (as a mixed field is called a 'rice-field' when rice predominates). Home use: settling how something is to be named or classed. Here: the affection can be described and classed by what predominates in it.

The speaker here is Maṅgalā's own girlfriend, recounting to some companion of hers what happened. And 'adatta' simply means 'she gave' (dadau).

First take grahāśleṣa apart: it is an embrace in which she herself does the grabbing — she seizes and holds him, of her own accord. Now, from Kṛṣṇa's simply reporting this, you can read her melting heart: that spontaneous, love-mad embrace is the sign of her sneha. Then 'her face goes crooked' — which only means she turns it aside out of shyness. Notice there is no real frown, no knitted brows; what shows instead is the faintest trace of dākṣiṇya, tender graciousness. So this is to be understood as kauṭilya-lalita — the charming kind of crookedness, the kind that carries tenderness folded inside it.
dākṣiṇya = the gracious, obliging tenderness of a lover who cannot really be hard toward the beloved. The point of the atom is a technical distinction: real anger (a frown, bhrū-kuṭi) versus kauṭilya-lalita, a mock-crookedness with no frown behind it — only tenderness. Compare a scolding that is all smile underneath: the 'crossness' is the charm, not the feeling.
