viṣayaḥ iti arthaḥis the sphere [of the lapse] — that is the meaning nom.(यही) विषय है — ऐसा अर्थ है
kutrāpi = kasmin api āvaśyaka-kartavye śrī-kṛṣṇa-sambandhini vastuni viṣayaḥ iti arthaḥ — 'kutrāpi' means: some required duty, a Kṛṣṇa-connected thing, is the sphere [of the forgetting].
Viśvanātha reads 'kutrāpi' the same way: it points to some necessary duty — a thing bound up with Śrī Kṛṣṇa — which becomes the sphere where the forgetting happens. The lapse is always in a Kṛṣṇa-related task.

atra vanamālā-gumphanasya śrī-kṛṣṇa-sukha-prayojanakatvena antaraṅgatvāt — here, since the garland-weaving, aimed at Kṛṣṇa's pleasure, is intimate to the rasa; pratipakṣa-jana-viṣayiṇyāḥ īrṣyāyāḥ tu rasa-poṣakatve api tad-apekṣayā bahiraṅgatvāt — whereas the rival-directed jealousy, though it feeds the rasa, is by comparison peripheral; bahiraṅga-vastunaḥ smṛtiḥ antaraṅga-vastunaḥ vismṛtiḥ iti — remembering the peripheral, forgetting the intimate; prema-māndye yuktiḥ — this is the reasoning for the love's slackness.
Why call this love 'slack'? Weaving Kṛṣṇa's garland serves his pleasure directly — it is antaraṅga, intimate to the loving mood. The jealousy toward the rival does feed the mood too, but only from outside — it is bahiraṅga, peripheral by comparison. So here she remembers the peripheral thing (her jealousy) and forgets the intimate thing (the garland). That very inversion is what makes the love 'manda,' slack.
antaraṅga / bahiraṅga = 'inner-limbed / outer-limbed' — the intimate versus the peripheral. Think of a lamp: the wick and flame are antaraṅga, the thing itself; the ornamental stand is bahiraṅga, useful but outer. Serving Kṛṣṇa's pleasure (the garland) is the wick; the jealousy is the stand. Prizing the outer over the inner is exactly the 'slackness' Viśvanātha names.

And here is the definition of prema itself. Jealousy is precisely the thing that destroys love. Yet even with jealousy present, this love holds firm as prema. Love that endures even its own destroyer — that is what prema means.
