'These alone' — only the gopīs carry a body that is worthwhile. Jīva reads the verse's param as 'only'.

Why only the gopīs? Because whatever love you and others chase — with your eye on its supreme height — you only crave; you never actually get it. And that these seekers never taste that sweetness is shown by the closing line, 'what use are births as Brahmā.'

Reading the compound with an extra 'a' (araso), it means 'one in whom relish is gone — who has no taste left for anything else.' For such a person, what could even births as Brahmā give? Nothing at all. This is the second, śleṣa reading of the same closing line; Jīva keeps it alongside the first.
The śleṣa Jīva foregrounds: ananta-kathā-rasasya reads either as 'one who relishes the endless stories' (s4) or, split as a-rasasya, 'one who has no relish [for aught else]' (here). Both are left standing.

The word 'cowherd wives' hints at samarthā rati — the fullest, most powerful love, the kind that will cross even the bounds of propriety for Kṛṣṇa.
samarthā rati — in Ujjvala-nīlamaṇi the highest of the three grades of rati (above sādhāraṇī and samañjasā): the parakīyā love so strong it overrides social and scriptural norms. ārya-patha, 'the path of the honourable', is the code of propriety it sets aside.

The Amara-kośa lists the senses of 'ātman': effort, resolve, intellect, nature, brahman, and body.
Why cited: Amara-kośa adduced to license reading nikhila-ātman as 'all one's faculties — body, mind, intellect, effort, nature, resolve' (s4), not merely 'Self of all.'

'Govinda' means simply 'the keeper of cows' — not the majestic Lord. With no awareness of his grandeur, sweetness takes over. And 'rūḍha-bhāvāḥ' means: the women whose love is the specific grade of mahābhāva called rūḍha.
rūḍha — a named subdivision of mahābhāva, the highest reach of rati (love).

Objection: the root 'ruh' just means 'to sprout, to come up.' By that etymology, 'rūḍha-bhāva' would mean nothing more than 'love that has arisen.' To meet this, the verse itself says: this is the love that the liberation-seeking sages — and we devotees too — still only long for.

vayaṁ kiṁ utpanna-bhāvāḥ na bhavāmaḥ — are we not ourselves ones in whom love has arisen?; tena atra rūḍha-śabdaḥ na yoga-arthaḥ — so 'rūḍha' here is not the etymological sense; kintu — but; rateḥ saptama-kakṣāyāṁ mahābhāva-prabhedaḥ eva rūḍhaḥ — 'rūḍha' is the mahābhāva-subtype at love's seventh stage.
Reply: after all, aren't we too people 'in whom love has arisen'? So 'rūḍha' here cannot mean merely that. It names the specific grade of mahābhāva that stands at the seventh rung of rati — a height the gopīs alone reach.
The ascent of rati is counted in seven stages (kakṣās) culminating in mahābhāva; rūḍha is a subdivision within that summit.

kṛṣṇe ... paramātmani rūḍha-bhāvaḥ iti[it reads] 'this rūḍha-bhāva toward Kṛṣṇa the Paramātman…''
punar api rūḍha-śabdaḥ evathere again the word is precisely 'rūḍha'फिर भी 'रूढ' शब्द ही
ata eva — just so; śloka-antare api — in the very next verse too; jāta-ādi-padam aprayujya — avoiding words like 'jāta'; kṛṣṇe eṣaḥ paramātmani rūḍha-bhāvaḥ iti — 'this rūḍha-bhāva toward Kṛṣṇa the Paramātman'; punar api rūḍha-śabdaḥ eva — once more the word is 'rūḍha' itself.
This is why the very next verse also chooses 'rūḍha,' not a word like 'jāta' ('arisen'): 'kṛṣṇe… eṣa paramātmani rūḍha-bhāvaḥ.' Scripture keeps the word 'rūḍha' on purpose.
Why cited: The following verse (BhP 10.47.59) quoted to show scripture deliberately repeats 'rūḍha' rather than a word like 'jāta' — proving rūḍha names the technical mahābhāva grade, not merely 'arisen love.'

Moreover: one who really knows how to taste rasa holds even his own towering greatness to be worthless if he lacks this love. That is why the verse ends, 'what use are births as Brahmā?'

Take someone who relishes even the bare talk of the Infinite Lord — for him Brahmā-births are already worthless. How much more, then, for one who savours the Lord's very being? Many births as Brahmā the creator would gain him nothing at all.
Viśvanātha keeps only the straight reading here — rasaḥ yasya, 'one who has relish' — and does not take up the araso (a-rasa) split that Jīva offers on the same line.
