An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) of chapter 14, sthāyi-bhāva (the abiding love, rati). Jīva marks it 'the second' illustration; the svarūpa-illustration (of rati's essential form) was given at 14.39, the verse beginning 'jihīta'. This verse shows rati flaring up spontaneously and unmixed.
