A cowherd married a girl from another land and brought her home to Śrī Nanda's Vraja. In this new bride, love sprang up the moment she touched Vraja's soil, and she speaks to her friend. "Madayati" means she gladdens, she intoxicates. Right then — though she had never once seen him — she felt Śrī Kṛṣṇa flash inside her heart; and, as if she knew everything, she makes her friend take heed, saying "iha…" and the rest.
Viśvanātha marks two moments of speech: first she speaks the verse (madayati…), then, in the surge of the vision, she adds the "iha…" lines. The whole scene is built to stress that she had never seen Kṛṣṇa — the love is the land's doing.

What caused her love? A special power of the Vraja-land itself — nothing outside it.
This is Viśvanātha's doctrinal takeaway, and the reason the scene shielded her from ever seeing Kṛṣṇa: with no external stimulus, the cause can only be the goṣṭha's own śakti.

As the saying goes: it lights up both love and its object at once, in a flash.
Why cited: Cited to back the claim of s2 — that the goṣṭha's special power can awaken rati and reveal its object (Kṛṣṇa) instantly and together, exactly what happened to the untutored bride.
