Here is the puzzle. All three — the name, the flute-note, the picture — worked by making their one ground, Kṛṣṇa himself, shine out; without his shining the love could not have arisen at all. Yet even though that one Kṛṣṇa shone through all three, and even though each appeared as a single form in her mind, because she met them one at a time, separately, the fact that they were one and the same did not register. That is how it is to be understood.

Here is the deep point. Her love is eternally perfect and inborn, and so — even when her mind is fooled into seeing three men — the love itself, on its own, recognizes its one true object, Śrī Kṛṣṇa.
