An udāharaṇa (illustration) of nāyaka-viṣaya cāpalya — the heroine's impulsive boldness directed at the hero — which Viśvanātha calls the chief kind of cāpalya (impulsiveness, one of the 33 vyabhicāri-bhāvas of this chapter). Quoted from the Gīta-govinda (1.49), the opening benediction of Jayadeva's poem.

The joy of the great rāsa dance is surging to its peak. The cowherd gopīs — lovely-browed — are lost in the delight of the roaring dance, song, and music. Each one is showing off her own flirtatious play, flaunting her charms and heightening it, and so absorbed that she has no thought for anything else. Right beside them stands Kṛṣṇa. On the pretext of praising his singing, Śrī Rādhā says: 'Ah, how blessed you are! You sing with a sweetness never heard before — what reward can I give you for it?' Playing the part of an ordinary listener savoring the song, and out of sheer delight in it, she tightly embraces his chest and boldly kisses him.

One may object: Rādhā is supremely modest — how could even such a kiss be fitting for her? To answer this, Jayadeva uses the word 'premāndhayā', 'by her who is blind with love'.
