L1definition
augryaṁ na sākṣād aṅgaṁ syāt tena vṛddhādiṣūcyate ||
augryaṁfierceness (augrya) — the transient emotion here definedउग्रता (क्रोध का उग्र भाव)
na sākṣād aṅgaṁ syātwould not be a direct limb [of the rasa] na … syāt = optative denial; sākṣāt = directly, in its own right(रस का) साक्षात् अंग नहीं होती
tenafor that reason, thereforeइसीलिए
vṛddhādiṣuin elders and the like — the persons in whom locative naming where it shows upवृद्धजनों आदि में
ucyateit is spoken of, shown(इसका) वर्णन किया जाता है
augryaṁ — fierceness; na sākṣāt aṅgaṁ syāt — would not be a direct limb; tena — therefore; vṛddhādiṣu — in elders and such; ucyate — it is shown.
Fierceness (augrya) is not, by itself, a direct limb of the rasa. So it is shown in elders and the like.
augrya, 'fierceness / wrathfulness', is one of the vyabhicāri-bhāvas (transient, accessory emotions) treated in this prakaraṇa. Rūpa's placement rule: because true fierceness cannot sit directly inside the lovers' śṛṅgāra, it is illustrated instead in a bystanding elder — setting up the udāharaṇa in Mukharā's voice that follows.

navīnā naptrī — [my] young granddaughter; agre — [is] right before [you]; caṭula — O fickle one!; dharmāt tava bhayaṁ na hi — surely you have no fear of dharma.
My young granddaughter stands right in front of you, you fickle boy! Have you no fear of dharma at all?
The first line of the udāharaṇa illustrating augrya (13.88): per L1 fierceness is no direct limb of rasa, so it is shown in an elder — here Mukharā, Rādhā's grandmother, scolding Kṛṣṇa as he lingers near the young Rādhā.

This old woman's eyes aren't sharp even at high noon. Sarcastic: Kṛṣṇa has just protested that he is standing openly before her watching eyes, so what is his fault — and she retorts that she is half-blind, so being 'in plain view' proves nothing.

And in the Third Canto [BhP 3.7.24] the line lists 'sons and grandsons and naptṛs' each on its own. Since naptṛ is named apart from son and grandson, it must mean a distinct, daughter-line descendant.

Why cited: Scriptural proof (BhP 3.7.24) that naptṛ is enumerated separately from sons and grandsons, so naptrī is not a son's daughter but a distinct descendant — supporting the dauhitrī reading.

As those verses show, no one in Vraja could ever truly feel envy or hostility toward Kṛṣṇa. So Mukharā's harsh words cannot be real fierceness. Yet, favoring her own granddaughter, and inwardly wishing that no taint of nearness-to-another's-wife should fall on him, she reproaches him. So Jīva concludes: what is displayed here is only a semblance of fierceness (augrya-ābhāsa), not the thing itself.
augrya-ābhāsa: a 'semblance' or shadow of fierceness, not the genuine vyabhicāri. Ābhāsa contrasts with the real emotion the way a mirage of water contrasts with water: it looks like fierceness but lacks its substance, because a Vraja elder's heart holds no true enmity toward Kṛṣṇa — her scolding is protective love wearing fierceness's mask. This is why L1 says augrya is no direct limb of the rasa.
