saṅkuca na tathya-vacasā
saṅkucashrink back, draw in [Vṛndā's command to Rādhā]सिकुड़ो, संकुचित हो जाओ (आज्ञार्थ)
nado not — so: do not shrink backमत
tathya-vacasāat these true words — because what is being said of you is simply the truth instrumental of cause: 'on account of true speech'सच्ची बात (यथार्थ स्तुति) के कारण
na saṅkuca — do not shrink back; tathya-vacasā — at [these] true words.
Do not shrink back. What is being said of you is simply true — there is nothing here to be bashful about.
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) in Vṛndā's voice — so Viśvanātha stages it. The lead-in 'stavena, yathā—' places it under the transient emotion (vyabhicāri-bhāva) as expressed through praise (stava); Rādhā's shrinking modesty is the sign being shown.

lalita-mādhavādi-rītyā — following the manner of the Lalita-mādhava and the rest; dāmpatye jāte — once the wedded state has come about; so’yaṁ stavaḥ — this praise; kayācit kṛtaḥ — was made by some friend; iti gamyate — so it is understood.
Read it the way Rūpa's own plays, the Lalita-mādhava and the rest, set the scene: the wedding of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa has already taken place. It is after that marriage that some friend offers this praise. That is what we are to gather here.

Just because they are truly wedded, the friend's impulse is to praise Rādhā. She sees her as glorious, worthy of a hymn.

Take the marriage away, and this very closeness with Hari would read as nothing but a blot, a scandal. The wedding is what turns what might look like disgrace into fitting praise.

Here is the scene, Viśvanātha says. Paurṇamāsī was describing Rādhikā's greatness to Gārgī. Just then Rādhā herself happened to walk in. Hearing her own praise, she shrank back shyly. So Vṛndā spoke up boldly — and gave this verse.
