dhanye kajjala-mukta-vāma-nayanā padme padoḍhāṅgadā
dhanyeO Dhanyā! — he calls the first companion by name vocativeहे धन्ये!
kajjala-mukta-vāma-nayanāher left eye left bare of its kajjala (eye-black) — a slip of the flurry bahuvrīhi describing Dhanyā (nom.); mukta = 'let go, missed', not 'freed for good'जिसकी बाईं आँख में काजल लगाना ही छूट गया (मुक्त = छूट गया, न कि सदा के लिए त्यागा)
padmeO Padmā! — the next companion, namedहे पद्मे!
padoḍhāṅgadāwho has slipped her arm-bangles onto her feet pada = feet, ūḍha = worn, aṅgada = an upper-arm ornament — so worn in the wrong placeजिसने अंगद (बाजू का आभूषण) पैरों में पहन लिया — अर्थात् गलत स्थान पर
dhanye — O Dhanyā; kajjala-mukta-vāma-nayanā — her left eye left without eye-black; padme — O Padmā; pada-ūḍha-aṅgadā — arm-bangles worn on the feet.
Two companions are addressed by name. In her rush Dhanyā has left her left eye without any eye-black, and Padmā has slipped her arm-bangles down onto her feet. These mis-adornments are the tell-tale signs of their flurry.
An udāharaṇa of priya-śravaṇaja — the vyabhicāri (transient) that arises from hearing the beloved (here his flute); quoted from Rūpa Gosvāmī's Lalita-mādhava 1.25. The sound of Kṛṣṇa's muralī has thrown the vraja-girls into a flurry (sambhrama), and each, adorning herself in haste, has put something on wrong; a companion tells them not to run off, since the flute still sounds only faintly from far away.

sāraṅgiO Sāraṅgī! — another companion, namedहे सारंगि!
dhvanad-eka-nūpura-dharāwearing just one anklet, and it jingling dhvanat = sounding, eka = a single one, nūpura = anklet, dharā = wearing — she has forgotten the otherजिसने केवल एक ही बजता हुआ नूपुर (पायल) पहना है — दूसरा भूल गई
pāliO Pālī! — another companion (the word also carries 'O friend')हे पालि!
skhalan-mekhalāwhose waist-girdle is sliding down skhalat = slipping, mekhalā = girdle; the belt was tied in hasteजिसकी मेखला (करधनी) खिसक रही है — जल्दबाजी में बँधी होने से
sāraṅgi — O Sāraṅgī; dhvanat-eka-nūpura-dharā — wearing one jingling anklet only; pāli — O Pālī; skhalat-mekhalā — her girdle slipping down.
Two more are named. Sāraṅgī has managed only one anklet, which jingles by itself, and Pālī's waist-girdle is sliding loose. Every detail keeps pointing to how hurriedly they dressed.
pāli doubles as a name and as the common word for 'female friend'; both senses are live in the address.

gaṇḍodyat-tilakā lavaṅgi kamale netrārpitālaktakā
gaṇḍodyat-tilakāwhose tilaka has strayed up onto her cheek gaṇḍa = cheek, udyat = rising/showing, tilaka = the forehead-mark — placed off its markजिसका तिलक (माथे का चिह्न) गाल पर चढ़ आया है — अपने स्थान से हटकर
lavaṅgiO Lavaṅgī! — another companion, namedहे लवंगि!
kamaleO Kamalā! — another companion, namedहे कमले!
netrārpitālaktakāwho has painted red foot-lac onto her eyes netra = eyes, arpita = applied, alaktaka = the red lac dye meant for feet/lips — put where the eye-black should goजिसने पैरों-ओठों में लगने वाला आलता (लाक्षा-रस) आँखों में लगा लिया — जहाँ काजल लगना था
gaṇḍa-udyat-tilakā — her tilaka risen on the cheek; lavaṅgi — O Lavaṅgī; kamale — O Kamalā; netra-arpita-alaktakā — red lac applied to the eyes.
The tilaka meant for the forehead has ended up on her cheek. And another girl, addressed as Lavaṅgī and Kamalā, has put red lac-dye — which belongs on the feet — onto her eyes instead of collyrium. The catalogue of adorning-mistakes is the whole picture of their agitation.
The dressing-errors down the verse — bare eye, misplaced bangle, single anklet, slipping girdle, cheek-tilaka, lac on the eyes — are each a symptom of the girls' flurried excitement (sambhrama) on hearing the flute; the poet lets the ornaments speak the emotion.

dūrefar off, still in the distance locative — the flute is placed 'at a distance'दूर पर (सप्तमी — मुरली दूरी पर स्थित है)
kalamsoftly, its sweet notes still faint adverb; kala = a low, indistinct, sweet soundमन्द, मधुर, अस्पष्ट स्वर में
kūjatiis only murmuring / cooing present tense — it is merely sounding, so he has not yet come nearबज रही है (वर्तमान — अभी बज ही रही है, अतः वह अभी पास नहीं आया)
tvam — you; mā dhāva uttaralam atra — do not run off here in a rush; muralī — the flute; dūre — far away; kalam kūjati — is still murmuring softly.
Then the point of it all: don't run off in a flurry. The flute is still only murmuring softly, far away — Kṛṣṇa has not come near yet, so there is no need to rush.
muralī (flute) 'far off, softly cooing' is the priya-śravaṇa — the hearing of the beloved that set the whole flurry going; and it is also the friend's reason for calm: the sound is still distant.

mā dhāva iti — the phrase 'do not run'; pratyekam — with each girl; anvitam — is to be construed.
Jīva gives the one syntactic key: read 'do not run' with each companion in turn. The single prohibition is distributed over every one of the girls named — Dhanyā, Padmā, Sāraṅgī, and the rest — not attached only to the last.

Nothing here to decode: it is a lone parenthetical number, '(38)', standing in the source. It reads as an editorial cross-reference — most likely back to the previous verse (13.38), where this variety is set up — and carries no phrase of its own.
The same '(38)' appears at the close of Viśvanātha's note as well; it is a source-editorial marker, not part of either commentator's argument.

Viśvanātha adds the one thing Jīva left generic — the speaker's name: it is Kundavallī who is saying this. Then, exactly as Jīva does, he notes that 'do not run' is to be construed with each of the companions in turn.
So it is on Viśvanātha's authority that the speaker is identified as Kundavallī; the verse itself names only the girls she is calling to.

As with Jīva's note, a lone parenthetical number, '(38)', closes the segment. It is an editorial cross-reference in the source — most likely to the preceding verse (13.38) — and has nothing to decode.

The identical '(38)' closes Jīva's note too; it is a source-editorial marker, not Viśvanātha's own words.
