The red lotus Rādhā wears on her ear draws a male bee — playfully, 'the lord of the lady-bee.' His buzzing opens the scene.
कान में आभूषण-रूप सजाए लाल कमल पर मँडराते भौंरों के राजा की यह गुंजार है।
The first line of an udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) — Kṛṣṇa's own words, quoted from Vidagdha-mādhava 5.44. The lead-in 'ghora-sattvena' (by way of a fearsome creature) marks it as an example of fright (trāsa) stirred by a dreaded creature — here the swarming bee Rādhā takes for a threat.
यह एक उदाहरण-पद्य की पहली पंक्ति है — श्रीकृष्ण के अपने वचन, विदग्ध-माधव (5.44) से उद्धृत। भूमिका में आया 'घोर-सत्त्वेन' (किसी भयंकर प्राणी के द्वारा) इसे भय (त्रास) का उदाहरण बना देता है — यहाँ वह भयंकर प्राणी है मँडराता भौंरा, जिसे राधा संकट मान बैठती हैं।

cūḍāḥ — kaṅkaṇāḥ; adhyasyati — arpayati; mama iti — saptamy-arthe; saṁbandha-sāmānya-astitva-vivakṣayā — ṣaṣṭhī.
cūḍāḥ — कंकण; adhyasyati — अर्पित करती है; mama iti saptamy-arthe — 'मम' सप्तमी के अर्थ में; saṁbandha-sāmānya-astitva-vivakṣayā — केवल सामान्य सम्बन्ध के अस्तित्व को कहने की इच्छा से; ṣaṣṭhī — षष्ठी।
Here 'cūḍāḥ' means bangles (kaṅkaṇa), and 'adhyasyati' means 'confers.' As for 'mama' — it is a genitive doing the work of a locative ('in me'). Jīva's reason: the poet used the genitive only to signal that some relation is present at all, nothing more precise.

The word 'dṛg-añcalena' stands in the singular, but Viśvanātha says it is a generic singular — standing for the class, hence for many glances.
'दृगञ्चलेन' यह एकवचन जाति की विवक्षा से है (अर्थात् वर्ग-मात्र को कहने के लिए)।

muhur muhuḥ — बार-बार; tiryag-gateḥ — तिरछी गति वाले कटाक्ष के; dṛg-añcalaiḥ — नेत्र-कोरों से (बहुवचन); iti arthaḥ — यह तात्पर्य है।
So the sense is really plural: 'by the corners of the eye that dart sideways again and again.' The single word covers her many repeated sidelong glances — matching the swarm of bees.

Viśvanātha unpacks the compound: her two creeper-like arms are shaken by fright and flung this way and that; on them sit the cūḍās — that is, bangles — which keep shifting; and she carries their jingling sound.
भय से हिलती और इधर-उधर झूलती बाहु-लताओं पर स्थित तथा चलती हुई चूड़ियों की — यहाँ चूडा का अर्थ वलय (कंगन) है — वह झनकार करने वाली है।

iti viśvaḥso says the Viśva[-prakāśa] lexiconऐसा विश्वप्रकाश कोश कहता है
cūḍā — śikhāyāṁ valabhau [ca]; cūḍā — bāhu-vibhūṣaṇe; iti viśvaḥ — so the Viśva lexicon.
cūḍā śikhāyāṁ valabhau — 'चूडा' शिखा और अटारी के अर्थ में; cūḍā bāhu-vibhūṣaṇe — 'चूडा' बाहु-आभूषण के अर्थ में; iti viśvaḥ — ऐसा विश्व (कोश)।
He backs the reading with the Viśva-prakāśa dictionary: 'cūḍā' can mean a crest or a roof-ridge, but it also means an arm-ornament. That third sense is the one in force here.
'चूडा' शब्द शिखा (चोटी), अटारी तथा बाहु के आभूषण — इन अर्थों में आता है; ऐसा विश्वप्रकाश कोश में कहा गया है।
Why cited: Lexical proof that 'cūḍā' in the verse means an arm-ornament (a bangle), not a crest or topknot.
क्यों उद्धृत: यह कोश-प्रमाण इसलिए उद्धृत किया गया कि यहाँ पद्य में 'चूडा' का अर्थ बाहु का आभूषण (कंगन) है, न कि शिखा या चोटी।

bāhu-śabdena — 'बाहु' शब्द से; kara-paryantaḥ api — हाथ पर्यन्त तक भी; asau ucyate — यह भाग कहा जाता है।
But 'bāhu-vibhūṣaṇa' is 'arm-ornament' — how does that reach the wrist? Because the word 'bāhu' (arm) covers the whole limb, down to the hand. So a wrist-bangle counts.
'बाहु' शब्द से हाथ तक का पूरा भाग भी कहा जाता है।

His proof: expressions like 'ājānu-bāhu' (arms hanging to the knees) show that 'bāhu' names the whole arm down to the hand. He then glosses the verb: 'adhyasyati' means 'confers.'
'आजानुबाहु' (घुटनों तक लम्बी भुजाओं वाले) आदि शब्दों के प्रयोग से यह सिद्ध होता है कि 'बाहु' हाथ तक फैला है। तथा 'अध्यस्यति' का अर्थ अर्पित करती है।

ata eva — precisely for this reason; kaṣṭaṁ mama modaḥ iti asya vivakṣitatvāt — because 'alas, my joy!' is what he means; sambandhasya prādhānyāt — because the relation is primary; ṣaṣṭhī — the genitive.
ata eva — इसीलिए; kaṣṭaṁ mama modaḥ iti — 'हाय! मेरा आनन्द' यह; asya vivakṣitatvāt — इसके विवक्षित होने से; sambandhasya prādhānyāt — सम्बन्ध की प्रधानता से; ṣaṣṭhī — षष्ठी।
So Viśvanātha concludes on the same genitive Jīva flagged. The intended sense is 'alas [your fright], yet mine is the joy' — what he wants to foreground is the relation, that the joy is his. Because the relation is primary, the poet writes the genitive 'mama,' not the locative 'mayi.'
इसीलिए — 'हाय! (उसकी व्याकुलता ही) मेरा आनन्द है' — यही कहना अभीष्ट है, और सम्बन्ध की प्रधानता होने से यहाँ षष्ठी विभक्ति हुई है।
