An udāharaṇa of viṣāda ('despondency'), one of the vyabhicāri-bhāvas of prakaraṇa 13, quoted from Bhāgavata 10.21.7. Viśvanātha reads it as the everyday morning despondency shared by all the gopīs.

Together with their friends, the two sons of Vraja's king — Śrī Rāma and Kṛṣṇa — drive the cows in, leading them forest to forest; they are what the eyes rest on. 'anu' here just means 'afterward'. Whoever has drunk in that flute-graced face — for them the reward is that very drinking-in. That alone is the reward of having eyes; any other, we simply do not know.

Two readings of anurakta-kaṭākṣa-mokṣam stand side by side and Viśvanātha resolves neither: (1) glances cast onto those who already love him (s9); (2) glances flung even at women not yet addressed (here). On the second he hears a dhvani of self-reproach — the gopīs wishing they had cast off propriety and gone to him long ago.
