daṁśaḥ kaṁsa-nṛpasya vakṣasi ruṣā kṛṣṇorageṇārpyatāṁ

kṛṣṇorageṇaby the black serpent (kṛṣṇa-uraga) — let it be the one to strike instrumental agent; kṛṣṇa 'black' is also Kṛṣṇa's own name, so the word punsकाले सर्प के द्वारा — और 'कृष्ण' शब्द काले रंग के साथ-साथ कृष्ण का नाम भी है, अतः श्लेष
arpyatāṁlet it be planted, fixed passive imperative 3sg — a wish/curseअर्पित किया जाए / दिया जाए — यह कामना, अर्थात् अभिशाप है
kṛṣṇorageṇa — by the black serpent; ruṣā — in rage; kaṁsa-nṛpasya vakṣasi — on King Kaṁsa's chest; daṁśaḥ — a bite; arpyatām — let be planted
Paurṇamāsī opens with a curse. 'Let a black cobra, in fury, sink its fangs into King Kaṁsa's chest!' The word for the serpent, kṛṣṇa-uraga, plainly means 'the black serpent' — and since kṛṣṇa is also Kṛṣṇa's own name, the pun is heard under it.
An udāharaṇa of pralaya — devastation, fainting, the collapse of all bodily activity — the eighth sāttvika-bhāva; here it arises from duḥkha (sorrow), as the lead-in states 'duḥkhena, yathā —', 'with sorrow, for example.' From Lalita-mādhava 3.61; the speaker is Paurṇamāsī cursing Kaṁsa (so Jīva — 'paurṇamāsyā vacanam' — and Viśvanātha — 'paurṇamāsī kaṁsam abhiśapati' — both identify her). This verse (32) sits under the pralaya heading opened at 31 by 'atha pralayaḥ.'

yena — by whom (Kaṁsa); goṣṭha-taḍāga-jīvanam hariḥ — Hari, the life-water of the pond that is Vraja; itaḥ — from here; dūre — far away; apajahre — was carried off
It was Kaṁsa who had Hari borne far from here — Hari, who is the very life-water of Vraja. Vraja (goṣṭha) is pictured as a pond (taḍāga), and Kṛṣṇa is its jīvana — a word meaning both the pond's water and the village's life. Drain the water and the pond dies; take Kṛṣṇa and Vraja dies.

The cowherd-women are a shoal of tiny śapharī fish. With the water — Kṛṣṇa — gone, the waves of their breath fall slack and they close their eyes. As Viśvanātha explains below, āmīlati means they 'reach the tenth state' — the last of the ten stages of love-in-separation, death itself.

Here is the trouble. If jīvana is life, and that life is Kṛṣṇa, then the moment Kṛṣṇa is taken, everyone's life is gone at once. But then the verse's picture — the gopī-fish with breath merely slackened, a faint and not death — would no longer fit.

But the gopīs cannot last even a moment — and that is exactly what the śapharī-fish metaphor conveys. A tiny śapharī dies the instant its water is gone, so the metaphor marks the gopīs' extreme delicacy. Take away Kṛṣṇa, the water, and they perish at once.

daśamīṁ daśāṁthe tenth state accusative, object of prāpnotiदसवीं दशा को
āmīlati — āmīlati; daśamīṁ daśāṁ prāpnoti — means 'reaches the tenth state'
And āmīlati — literally 'closes the eyes' — he glosses as 'reaches the tenth state.' So the gopī-fish do not merely faint; they pass into the final stage.
The 'ten states' (daśa daśā) of love-in-separation run from first longing down to death; the tenth (daśamī daśā) is maraṇa, death itself. Viśvanātha reads āmīlati, 'closing the eyes', as this last stage.
