L1definition
ākalpa-kalpanālpāpi vicchittiḥ kānti-poṣa-kṛt ||
ākalpa-kalpanāan arranging of dress and ornament ākalpa = attire/ornament; kalpanā = the getting-up, the arrangementआकल्प यानी वेश-भूषा या आभूषण; कल्पना यानी उसका सजाना-सँवारना
alpā apieven when it is scanty — api = 'even', granting that there is very little of it api concedes the smallness: the point holds despite how little adornment there isथोड़ी ही क्यों न हो — 'अपि' यह छूट देता है कि सजावट कम होने पर भी बात बनी रहती है
vicchittiḥis [what is called] vicchitti — the term being defined nominative: the lakṣya, the thing whose definition this line givesविच्छित्ति — यही वह लक्ष्य है जिसका लक्षण यह पंक्ति देती है
kānti-poṣa-kṛtprovided it makes her beauty flourish — kānti = glow/loveliness, poṣa = nourishing, kṛt = doing the working condition: only adornment that feeds the glow counts as vicchittiजो कान्ति को पुष्ट करे — वही सजावट विच्छित्ति मानी जाती है
vicchittiḥ — vicchitti [is this]; ākalpa-kalpanā — an arranging of dress and ornament; alpā api — even when scanty; kānti-poṣa-kṛt — [so long as it] makes the beauty flourish.
Here is vicchitti. Take an arrangement of dress or ornament that is very slight — barely anything. If even that little heightens her glow, it is vicchitti. So the mark is not how much she wears but that the small touch feeds her beauty. A careless, minimal adornment that still makes her lovelier — that is the anubhāva called vicchitti.
vicchitti, as an anubhāva, is the charming effect of scanty or negligent adornment — a graceful under-dressing that heightens rather than dims the beauty. The line is the lakṣaṇa; L2-L5 give its udāharaṇa.
L2example
mākanda-patreṇa mukunda-cetaḥ
mākanda-patreṇaby a mango leaf — the single adornment that will do all the work instrumental: this one leaf is the whole 'scanty ornament'; its four qualifiers follow in L3-L4आम के एक पत्ते से (करण-कारक) — यही अकेला पत्ता पूरा अल्प आभूषण है
mukunda-cetaḥMukunda's heart — the object of 'gladdening' that opens the next lineमुकुन्द अर्थात् कृष्ण का चित्त, मन
mākanda-patreṇa — by a mango leaf; mukunda-cetaḥ — Mukunda's heart [carried over to pramodinī, 'gladdening', in L3].
Now the illustration. The whole ornament is one thing: a mango leaf. And with it, Mukunda's heart — held here, to be finished by 'gladdening' in the next line. So the poet sets up a single leaf on one side and Kṛṣṇa's heart on the other.
This begins the udāharaṇa of vicchitti defined just above in L1 (11.34): even a scanty adornment, if it heightens beauty, is vicchitti. Here the whole 'ornament' is a single mango leaf worn at the ear.
L3example
pramodinī māruta-kampitena |
pramodinī[her face,] gladdening [Mukunda's heart] feminine, agreeing with the lotus-face as 'she'; it governs mukunda-cetaḥ from L2 — 'delighting Mukunda's heart'हर्षाती हुई (स्त्रीलिंग) — L2 के मुकुन्द-चित्त को आनन्दित करती हुई
māruta-kampitena[the leaf] set quivering by the breeze — first of the leaf's four qualifiers instrumental, agreeing with mākanda-patreṇa: the wind trembles the leaf at her earवायु से काँपते हुए (करण, पत्ते का विशेषण) — पवन उसके कान के पत्ते को कँपा देता है
pramodinī — gladdening [mukunda-cetaḥ, Mukunda's heart, from L2]; māruta-kampitena — [by the leaf] trembled by the breeze.
The face is gladdening Mukunda's heart. And the leaf is described: the breeze sets it quivering at her ear. That little flutter is the first of four touches the poet gives the one leaf, turning a scrap of foliage into a living ornament.
pramodinī is feminine — it takes the lotus-face (or Rādhā herself) as 'she who gladdens', while the grammatical subject that 'blossoms' in L5, rādhā-mukhāmbhoruham, is neuter. The line reads across both.
'प्रमोदिनी' स्त्रीलिंग है — यह मुख-कमल को (या स्वयं राधा को) 'हर्षाने वाली' के रूप में लेता है, जबकि L5 में 'खिलने' वाला व्याकरण-कर्ता 'राधा-मुखाम्भोरुहम्' नपुंसकलिंग है। पंक्ति दोनों पर साथ-साथ लागू होती है।
L4example
raktena karṇābharaṇīkṛtena
raktenared — the second qualifier of the leaf; a fresh mango leaf is reddish-copper instrumental, still agreeing with the leaf. rakta also carries 'impassioned/loving', a quiet second sense fitting the erotic moodलाल (करण, अब भी पत्ते का विशेषण) — 'रक्त' में 'अनुरक्त, प्रेम में रँगा' का भी एक शान्त दूसरा अर्थ है, जो शृंगार-भाव के अनुकूल है
karṇābharaṇī-kṛtenamade into an ear-ornament — the third qualifier; she has tucked the leaf at her ear as jewelry cvi formation: ābharaṇa 'ornament' → ābharaṇī-kṛta 'turned into an ornament'; the leaf is promoted to jewelryकान का आभूषण बना दिए गए (पत्ते से) — जो आभूषण न था, उसे आभूषण बना दिया गया
raktena — [by the leaf that is] red; karṇābharaṇī-kṛtena — [and] made into an ear-ornament.
Two more touches on the leaf. It is red — the copper flush of a new mango leaf. And it has been made into an ear-ornament: she has set it at her ear as though it were a jewel. So the 'scanty adornment' of the definition is exactly this — one reddish leaf worn where an earring would go.
rakta means 'red' and also 'impassioned, in love'; the leaf is red, and the sense of amorous colouring rides along with it in this love-scene.
'रक्त' का अर्थ 'लाल' भी है और 'अनुरक्त, प्रेम में डूबा' भी; पत्ता लाल है, और इस प्रेम-प्रसंग में अनुराग के रंग का भाव भी साथ-साथ चलता है।
L5example
rādhā-mukhāmbhoruham ullalāsa ||
rādhā-mukhāmbhoruhamRādhā's lotus-face — the subject that blossoms neuter nominative (ambhoruha, 'water-born', = lotus); mukha 'face' likened to a lotusराधा का मुख-कमल (नपुंसक कर्ता; अम्भोरुह = जल में उत्पन्न, यानी कमल) — मुख को कमल के समान कहा गया
ullalāsashone forth, burst into bloom perfect of ud-√las: 'blazed up / blossomed'; intransitive, so the face itself lights upखिल उठा, उल्लसित हो उठा (उद्-√लस् का लिट्, अकर्मक) — इसलिए मुख स्वयं दमक उठा
rādhā-mukhāmbhoruham — Rādhā's lotus-face; ullalāsa — blossomed forth [gladdening Mukunda's heart by the mango leaf — quivering in the breeze, red, made an ear-ornament].
And the payoff: Rādhā's lotus-face blossomed forth, blazed into full radiance. Pull the whole verse together — one mango leaf, trembling in the wind, red, worn at her ear as her only ornament, and her face lights up and delights Kṛṣṇa's heart. That single leaf is the 'scanty adornment' of the definition; the face lighting up is the 'beauty made to flourish'. The verse is the vicchitti drawn to the life.

na vyākhyātam. (30)
na vyākhyātam[this] was not commented on — na = 'not', vyākhyātam = 'explained' neuter past participle: Jīva records that he gives no gloss on these verses and passes them overव्याख्या नहीं की गई (नपुंसक भूत कृदन्त) — जीव लिखते हैं कि इन श्लोकों पर वे कोई व्याख्या नहीं देते और इन्हें छोड़ देते हैं
na vyākhyātam — [it was] not explained.
Jīva's whole comment is two words: 'not explained.' He offers no gloss on 34-35 and simply moves on. The lecturer notes the gap rather than filling it.
The '(30)' following in the text is an edition cross-reference number, not part of Jīva's remark; the same number recurs under Viśvanātha below.

mākanda itithe verse that begins 'mākanda…' — quoting its opening word iti tags the pratīka, the catch-word by which the verse is named'माकन्द' इस प्रकार — 'इति' से उस श्लोक का प्रतीक अर्थात् पहचान-शब्द दिया गया है
vṛndā — Vṛndā; nāndīmukhīm — to Nāndīmukhī; āha — speaks; mākanda iti — the verse beginning 'mākanda…'.
Viśvanātha frames the scene: the speaker is Vṛndā, and she is speaking to Nāndīmukhī. What she says is the verse that opens 'mākanda…'. So the example verse is put in Vṛndā's mouth, describing Rādhā's face to her companion.
Vṛndā is the forest-goddess who stages the pastimes; Nāndīmukhī is her companion. Viśvanātha supplies both names, which the mūla verse leaves unstated.
