kadamba-nikaṭe — close by the kadamba; krīḍā-kuṭīra-sthalīm — on the play-bower spot; adhyāsīnam — seated upon; amum — that one, Kṛṣṇa.
Vṛndā points him out to Rādhā: that one there, Kṛṣṇa, seated on the little play-bower right beside the kadamba tree. The seat he sits on is put in the accusative, the way Pāṇini has the place-of-sitting behave as an object.

An udāharaṇa illustrating netra-vyāpāra-vaiśiṣṭyam — the distinctive working of the eyes, one of the anubhāvas (the outward symptoms that display bhāva); Vṛndā speaks the verse to Rādhā, so Viśvanātha (UN 11.33). Introduced by the lead-in 'yathā vā', it is the alternate illustration.

atra — here; rabhasāt — eagerly; puraḥ — in front; ābhīrendra-kumāram — at the cowherd-king's son; ālokayantyāḥ — of you, as you gaze.
Here, right in front of you, you eagerly drink him in — the son of the cowherd-chief. This gazing is 'yours': the genitive ties it back to 'your glances' in the last line.

The dark Kālindī gets smeared over — by what? By glance-floods that pour out a loveliness white as the lovely waves of the milk-ocean. The compound names the whitening liquid; the next line names whose glances carry it.

Here is the point, O slender one: the dark Yamunā turns white — she becomes a very Gaṅgā. And what whitens her is the surging waves of your glances, so brimming with pale, milk-white loveliness that the black river takes on the Gaṅgā's whiteness. The eyes' activity is the whole show — that is the anubhāva being displayed.

dugdhety ādinā smitam eva vyañjitam |
dugdhā ity ādināby [the words] 'dugdha…' and what follows instr. of means; a pratīka pointing to the compound of L3'दुग्धा...'
smitam evaa smile — precisely that, nothing else eva pins the target: it is her smile that the words hintमुसकान ही — 'एव' लक्ष्य को टिका देता है: शब्द उसकी स्मित की ओर ही इंगित करते हैं
vyañjitamis [only] suggested, not stated outrightव्यंजित (सूचित) की गई है
dugdhā ity ādinā — by the 'dugdha…' words; smitam eva — a smile, just that; vyañjitam — is suggested.
Jīva reads the compound closely. The words 'milk-ocean… loveliness' never say 'smile' — yet that is exactly what they hint at. Milk-ocean loveliness is white, and that whiteness belongs to her smile. So the phrase suggestively slips her smiling in without naming it.

Once you grant that the whiteness is her smile's, the rest falls into place. The dark Yamunā's becoming a white Gaṅgā is now explained: her smiling glance is what lends the river that whiteness.

A bare parenthetical number the edition carries alongside the verse — a place-marker in its running count, not part of the commentary's argument.
Emitted in the prose stream (not as a verse-number marker); what exactly it counts is not recoverable from the text itself, so it is left as a generic index.

Viśvanātha sets the scene. Vṛndā has led Rādhā to the trysting-place and brought her right before Kṛṣṇa. Now Vṛndā speaks to her, in the verse beginning 'adhyāsīnam'. So Viśvanātha fixes the speaker as Vṛndā and the one addressed as Rādhā.

Viśvanātha opens up the long compound. The glance-floods are ones whose very nature is to pour out a loveliness like that of the milk-ocean's beautiful waves. And 'smeared' (digdhā), he says, means 'thickly heaped over'. Like Jīva, he too reads this white loveliness as a hint of her smile.
