mṛgamada-kṛta-carcā pīta-kauṣeya-vāsā
mṛgamada-kṛta-carcāher body anointed with smearings of musk (mṛgamada = musk, kastūrī; carcā = cosmetic smearing) bahuvrīhi, nom. fem. — 'she by whom the smearing is done'; describes Rādhā, not a subject-noun 'the smearing'जिसने कस्तूरी का अंगराग (लेप) किया है — ऐसी (राधा)
pīta-kauṣeya-vāsāwearing a yellow silk garment (pīta = yellow, kauṣeya = silk, vāsas = cloth) bahuvrīhi describing Rādhā; the yellow silk is Kṛṣṇa's own signature dressजिसने पीला रेशमी वस्त्र पहना है — वही पीताम्बर तो कृष्ण का ही चिह्न है
mṛgamada-kṛta-carcā — her body smeared with musk; pīta-kauṣeya-vāsā — wearing a yellow silk cloth.
Her whole body is anointed with musk, and she wears a yellow silk garment. Both are Kṛṣṇa's marks — she is dressing herself up as him.
An udāharaṇa (illustration) of a deliberately-performed anubhāva — an outward display that even takes premeditated effort (buddhi-pūrvaka yatna), so Viśvanātha at 11.30. Here it is Rādhā consciously costuming herself as Kṛṣṇa; the outward act reveals her inner bhāva. The verse is from the Chando-mañjarī and is itself set in the Mālinī meter (see L4).

A charming peacock feather crowns her, and her thick braid is bound up into a coil — once more the look is Kṛṣṇa's own.

The flute rests aslant on her shoulder, and she makes it ring out. It is Kṛṣṇa's very pose.

kṛta-madhuripu-veṣā mālinī pātu rādhā ||
kṛta-madhuripu-veṣāhaving put on the garb of Madhuripu — Kṛṣṇa, the foe of the demon Madhu (kṛta = assumed, veṣa = costume) bahuvrīhi; this compound names the whole point — Rādhā in Kṛṣṇa-disguiseजिसने मधुरिपु (कृष्ण) का वेष धारण किया है — यही समास तो पूरी बात कह देता है
mālinīgarlanded, wearing a forest-garland (vana-mālā) — and, by śleṣa, the name of the very meter this verse is set in, Mālinī (so Viśvanātha) double sense held at once — see Viśvanātha's s3मालिनी — माला धारण किए हुए (और साथ ही छन्द का नाम भी)
rādhāRādhā nom. — the subject of the benedictionराधा — इस आशीर्वाद का कर्ता
pātumay she protect [us] optative — the closing benediction (āśīrvāda)रक्षा करें — यह समापन का आशीर्वाद है
kṛta-madhuripu-veṣā — having put on Kṛṣṇa's garb; mālinī — garlanded (also: 'in the Mālinī meter'); rādhā — Rādhā; pātu — may she protect us.
Rādhā, dressed head to foot in Kṛṣṇa's garb and wearing his forest-garland — may she protect us! And the last word 'mālinī' puns: it both calls her garlanded and names the Mālinī meter this verse is composed in.
This is the mālinī śleṣa: the same word closes the picture of Rādhā (garlanded) and signs the meter (Mālinī). Viśvanātha's s3 draws it out.

Many outward signs of love come on their own, involuntarily. But even a display that takes deliberate, planned effort still counts as an anubhāva. To illustrate that kind, Viśvanātha says, Rūpa gives the verse beginning 'yathā vā' — 'or, as in the Chando-mañjarī.'

Viśvanātha fixes the dramatic frame: it is Rati-mañjarī who is speaking, and she is describing the scene to her own friend, in the verse beginning mṛgamada.

mālinī mālāvatī tan-nāma-cchandaś ca ||
mālinīthe word 'mālinī' [in the verse] carries two senses at once (śleṣa):मालिनी
mālāvatī(1) she who wears a garland — garlandedमाला धारण करने वाली
tan-nāma-chandaḥ(2) and the meter that bears that same name — the Mālinī chandas (tat-nāma = named after it)उसी नाम का छन्द (मालिनी वृत्त)
caand — both readings stand together, not one instead of the otherऔर
mālinī — the word 'mālinī' means both; mālāvatī — (1) garlanded; tan-nāma-chandaḥ ca — (2) and, also, the meter of that name.
Viśvanātha unfolds the pun on the last word. 'Mālinī' means she wears a garland — mālāvatī. But it is also the name of the very meter this verse is set in, the Mālinī. Both readings hold at once: the word names the garlanded Rādhā and signs the verse-form itself.
