vṛndāvana itinamely the verse beginning 'vṛndāvane' iti marks the catch-word (pratīka) that names the verse'वृन्दावन' इस (पद) को — 'इति' पद के प्रतीक (पहचान-शब्द) को दिखाता है
virahiṇī śrī-rādhā — Śrī Rādhā, pining in separation; āha — speaks; vṛndāvana iti — the verse that begins 'vṛndāvane'.
Rādhā, pining in separation, speaks the verse beginning 'vṛndāvane.' So Viśvanātha names her the speaker and her viraha the setting.

vipañcyā vīṇāyā niṣṭhyūtaḥ — issued from the vīṇā; yaḥ pañcamaḥ — the fifth note; tasmād api manoharaṁ ninadam — a hum more charming even than that; kuliśasya ghaṭṭanaṁ nipātaḥ — the crashing-strike of a thunderbolt; tasmād api ghoraṁ ninadam — a hum more terrible even than that; samprati āharanti — they now bring; ity arthaḥ — that is the sense.
vipañcī means the vīṇā; niṣṭhyūta means 'issued forth.' The pañcama is one note of the scale. Formerly the bees brought a hum more charming even than that note. Now—samprati—those same bees bring a hum more terrible even than the crash of a thunderbolt (kuliśa = vajra). That, Viśvanātha says, is the verse's meaning.
