Viśvanātha first sets the scene: once Kṛṣṇa has left for Mathurā, some gopī breaks into lament — the words are hers. Then he decodes them. 'The staff which' — she planted it on the ground in front and leaned on it (that is what viṣṭabhya means). 'Set on its tip' — śikhara is the top, the very tip, where his two hands were placed: either stacked firmly one right above the other, or with the palms turned downward. 'Shining as he sported'— and here his gloss simply breaks off.
The two vā-options (stacked-firm / palms-down) describe how the two hands rest on the staff's tip; Viśvanātha offers both without deciding between them. His comment stops at dīvyan, leaving the rest of the verse unglossed.
