iyaṁ — this one; pada-tatibhiḥ — by rows of footprints; alaṅkṛta-ujjvalā — adorned and radiant.
iyaṁ — यह [वनपंक्ति अथवा सखी]; pada-tatibhiḥ — चरण-चिह्नों की पंक्तियों से; alaṅkṛta- — अलंकृत होकर; -ujjvalā — उज्ज्वल है।
This one here — radiant, adorned with rows of footprints. Right from the first word the poet runs a śleṣa: iyaṁ vanālī is at once a grove and a girlfriend, and everything said fits both.
यह — वनपंक्ति भी और सखी भी — चरण-चिह्नों की पंक्तियों से अलंकृत होकर देदीप्यमान है।
An udāharaṇa illustrating padāṅkādi uddīpana — footprint-marks and the like as excitants of rasa — quoted from the Dāna-keli-kaumudī (verse 13).
यह एक उदाहरण है जो पदांक आदि उद्दीपन — चरण-चिह्न आदि रस के उद्दीपक — को दिखाता है; दानकेलि-कौमुदी (श्लोक 13) से उद्धृत।

vanālīthe grove-row (vana-ālī) — or the girlfriend (ālī) the pivot of the śleṣa; bahuvrīhi: she whose buds are nail-touchedवह वनाली — वन-पंक्ति, अथवा आली (सखी); यहीं श्लेष का मूल
vanālī — this grove-row / this friend; nakhara-luṭhita-kuṭmalā — whose buds are touched by nails.
nakhara-luṭhita-kuṭmalā — जिसकी कलियाँ नखों से स्पर्श की गई हैं; vanālī — वह वनपंक्ति (अथवा सखी)।
vanālī splits two ways. Read as vana-ālī, a row of groves whose flower-buds Kṛṣṇa brushed with his fingernails while plucking blossoms. Read as ālī, a girlfriend whose 'buds' — her breasts — bear the nail-marks of love-play.
वह वनाली — वन की पंक्ति भी और सखी (आली) भी — जिसकी कलियाँ (अथवा स्तन) [कृष्ण के] नखों से स्पर्श की गई हैं।
The compound vana-ālī (grove-row) and the single word ālī (girlfriend) are heard at once — this is where the verse's two layers openly diverge, and Viśvanātha works out both.
वन-आली (वन की पंक्ति) और अकेला आली (सखी) — दोनों एक साथ सुनाई पड़ते हैं; यहीं श्लोक के दो स्तर खुलकर अलग होते हैं, और विश्वनाथ दोनों को खोलते हैं।

And somehow it does two opposite things to my heart at once — it gladdens it and it shakes it. That paradox is what the commentary now unfolds along both readings: joy at the footprints, and the tremor of longing.

atra — यहाँ; pada-śabdena — 'पद' शब्द से; pada-cihnaṁ — चरण-चिह्न; lakṣitavyam — लक्षणा द्वारा समझना चाहिए।
A quick point of meaning: the word pada literally says 'foot,' but here it points, by lakṣaṇā (indirect indication), to the footprint left by the foot.
यहाँ 'पद' शब्द से लक्षणा द्वारा चरण-चिह्न समझना चाहिए।
lakṣaṇā — the standard device where a word's direct sense won't fit, so it hands off to a related sense: 'foot' → the mark a foot leaves.
लक्षणा — वह प्रक्रिया जहाँ शब्द का मुख्य अर्थ न बैठे तो वह संबंधित अर्थ पर हाथ रख देता है: 'पद' (पैर) → पैर का छोड़ा हुआ चिह्न।

luṭ — the root luṭ; saṁśleṣaṇe — in the sense of contact; tud-ādiḥ — of the tud (sixth) class.
luṭ — 'लुट्' धातु; saṁśleṣaṇe — संश्लेषण अर्थ में; tud-ādiḥ — तुदादिगण की है।
A grammar footnote backing the last gloss: the root luṭ, sixth conjugation, means 'to make contact.' So luṭhita rightly means 'touched,' not merely 'rolling.'
'लुट्' धातु, संश्लेषण (स्पर्श) के अर्थ में, तुदादिगण की है।
Dhātu-pāṭha citation: luṭ (tud-ādi, 6th class) in the sense saṁśleṣaṇa, 'joining, contact' — the warrant for reading luṭhita as 'touched.'
धातुपाठ का प्रमाण — 'लुट्' (तुदादि, छठा गण) संश्लेषण अर्थ में; इसी से 'लुठित' को 'स्पर्श किया हुआ' पढ़ने का आधार मिलता है।

The friend-reading turns frank. The 'bud rolled on the nails' is, by atiśayokti (hyperbole), her breast; the nail-marks on it hint at viparīta-śṛṅgāra — love-play with the woman on top. So the friend plainly bears the traces of union with Kṛṣṇa.

atiśayokti — the poetic figure of overstatement, where the compared thing is spoken of outright as the standard: the 'bud' is called the breast, not merely likened to it. viparīta-śṛṅgāra = the mode of union with the woman in the superior position.
अतिशयोक्ति — वह अलंकार जहाँ उपमेय को उपमान ही कहकर कह दिया जाए: 'कली' को स्तन के समान नहीं, स्तन ही कहा गया। विपरीत-शृंगार = वह रति जहाँ स्त्री ऊपर की स्थिति में हो।
