asau parimala-ūrmiḥ — this wave of fragrance; kasya — whose?; roma-śriyā (saha) — along with the splendor of my horripilation; milati — drifts and mingles with me.
Whose is this wave of fragrance drifting toward me — and it comes bringing with it the thrill of my body-hair standing on end?
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) for saurabha — Kṛṣṇa's bodily fragrance — as an uddīpana-vibhāva, an excitant of rasa, in prakaraṇa 10. The whole verse is spoken by Rādhā and turns on a śleṣa (mādhava = spring / Kṛṣṇa; surabhi = the flowering season / the fragrant Lord).

On the slender creeper of my body the fragrance raises buds — the horripilation stands up like flower-buds all over me.
The metaphor: body = creeper (latikā), and the goosebumps of horripilation = the buds (kuḍmalāni) breaking out on it.

O friend, now I understand: here, right in front of me, Mādhava has appeared.
This is where the śleṣa turns. Surface reading: mādhava = the spring (madhu-mādhava, the spring months), which has come to the forest. Deep reading: Mādhava = Kṛṣṇa himself has come. The verse leaves both standing.

surabhi carries both senses at once: 'the flowering season, spring' (per Amara, glossed in the commentary) and 'the fragrant one.' This double reading is the verse's headline teaching point, not a footnote.

Jīva records a variant reading. Instead of 'parimalormiḥ ... roma-śriyāsau,' one may read 'milati parimala-śrīḥ kasya vā roma-mūle mama' — 'whose is this splendor of fragrance mingling at the very root of my body-hair?' He flags it, without deciding between the two.

roma-śriyā means: by the beauty of the body-hairs standing erect — the visible thrill of horripilation.
The source prints 'romṇāmudram aśobhayā,' evidently a misprint; the required sense is romṇām udgama-śobhayā, 'by the splendor of the rising-up of the body-hairs' — confirmed by the next sentence, which is entirely about the word udgama being folded into the compound.

He justifies the gloss grammatically. Just as 'rice moistened with curd' collapses into 'curd-rice (dadhy-odana),' dropping the middle word 'moistened' yet keeping its sense, so in roma-śrī the word udgama, 'rising-up,' is folded in unspoken — hence 'the splendor of the [rising-up of the] body-hairs.'

Lalitā offers no answer, so Rādhā answers her own question. 'O friend! viditam — I have it, all at once (jñātam).' On the plain reading, surabhi here means the spring.

He quotes the Amarakośa: 'surabhi' is one of its names for spring, the flowering season.
Why cited: cited from the Amarakośa to establish that surabhi is a name for spring — the lexical warrant that lets the verse's surabhi/mādhava carry the double sense (the spring season and the fragrant Kṛṣṇa).
