rādhāyāḥ — of Rādhā's; premādi-guṇa-sampadām — treasury of qualities beginning with prema; aṁśaḥ api — even a fraction; anyatra — anywhere else; na [asti] — does not exist.
Of Rādhā's whole treasury of qualities — prema and all the rest — not even a fraction is found in anyone else. This is the verse's headline claim: her excellence is simply beyond comparison.

And yet — by rasa alone, and only as a semblance (iva) — a mutual parity is lent to the rival camp and the others. So no one truly equals Rādhā; rasa merely lends the rivals a look of standing on par with her. The 'iva' is doing the work: it is an as-it-were likeness, not a real match.

Jīva sets up the verse. Rūpa is not speaking loosely: he takes his stand on the settled view of those who dive deep into the vast ocean of Śrī Rādhā's glory, and on that footing he utters 'na aṁśo’pi.' So the verse voices the position of Rādhā's most fervent glorifiers.

vipakṣādau vipakṣa-svapakṣa-suhṛt-pakṣa iti traye |
vipakṣādau'among the rival-camp and the rest' [the verse's word] pratīka being unpacked'विपक्षादौ' (इस पद का अर्थ)
vipakṣa-svapakṣa-suhṛt-pakṣa iti trayemeans: in the triad — rival-camp, own-camp, friendly-camp loc., naming the three the 'ādi' coversविपक्ष, स्वपक्ष और सुहृत्पक्ष — इन तीनों में
vipakṣa-ādau [iti] — the verse's 'rival-camp and the rest'; vipakṣa-svapakṣa-suhṛt-pakṣa iti traye — [taken] as the triad: rival-camp, own-camp, friendly-camp.
Jīva pins down the verse's 'vipakṣādau.' The 'and the rest' is not open-ended: it means a set of three camps — the rival camp (vipakṣa), one's own camp (svapakṣa), and the friendly, allied camp (suhṛt-pakṣa).

Jīva explains 'by rasa alone' with an analogy. When you hear the exploits of Hanumān and the other heroes, the heroic rasa (vīra-rasa) swells up in you, and then the rasa-connoisseurs actually see feats like leaping across the ocean as credible and accept them as of a piece with that mood. Just so here. The mapping: the vīra-rasa is the rasa of our verse; the ocean-leaping feats are the rivals and the rest being lent a look of parity; the rasa-connoisseurs are those savoring Rādhā's rasa. What the analogy proves: it is the swelling rasa, and it alone, that makes such a parity appear credible. Where it stops: as in the analogy the feats are extraordinary, not ordinary, so here the parity is only lent by rasa — it is not a real equality with Rādhā.

Viśvanātha raises the objection first. Might Candrāvalī and Śyāmalā actually hold a bhāva equal in measure to Śrī Rādhā's? The reason for asking: it is precisely with those two that we see the two relations — enmity (Candrāvalī the rival) and friendship (Śyāmalā the ally). That very fact seems to put them on Rādhā's level. To answer this he speaks the verse's 'na aṁśo’py anyatra.'

Viśvanātha unpacks the mechanism. Even that much parity is imparted by rasa alone, acting as the agent, and it does so only to feed its own relishing (sva-puṣṭi). Between Rādhā's bhāva and Candrāvalī's there is utter, thorough-going unlikeness. So the 'parity' is a mere as-it-were likeness (sāmyam iva), and it holds in one respect only — that of equal magnitude (tulya-pramāṇatā), never in nature. Rasa lends this look of equal measure for its own savour, and nothing more is meant.

A second objection. Grant the previous point: when two group-leaders are utterly unlike yet each carries a bhāva of equal measure, a quasi-enmity springs up between them. But then take the opposite case — when their bhāva is completely alike. Would that make them mutually of the same camp (sva-pakṣatva)? Or would some altogether different label fit? Anticipating this question, Viśvanātha takes up the word 'bhāvasya.'

He glosses the picked-up word. The sense is: what makes the two count as separate leaders is that each has carried her bhāva to its very topmost pitch (ātyantika-ādhikya) — which is just what it means to be a yūtheśvarī. Only two who have each maxed out their bhāva stand as distinct group-leaders.

Viśvanātha answers the second objection. Total sameness is, in fact, all but impossible. Without at least a little unlikeness, separate group-leadership simply cannot arise — and that necessarily. If two were identical in every respect, there could not be two distinct yūtheśvarīs at all.

Here is why. Total sameness of bhāva is precisely the cause of overflowing mutual affection. Where two share the very same mood through and through, the result is not rivalry but the deepest love flowing between them — so it could never split them into rival leaders.

And this overflowing affection just is their never-broken life together. Total sameness fuses them into a single company, leaving no room for a separate leader to emerge.

Rank is fixed by the sheer magnitude of bhāva, not by any difference in its kind.

yad uktam — as has been said; yūtha-adhipātve api — though fit for group-leadership; aucityaṁ dadhānāḥ — keeping to what is fitting; lalitā-ādayaḥ — Lalitā and the others…
He clinches the rule with a quotation. 'Though fully qualified to head a group of their own, Lalitā and the other chief sakhīs, holding to what is fitting…' — the sentence carries over into the next line.
Why cited: Cited to prove the rule just laid down: even gopīs fit to be yūtheśvarīs remain Rādhā's sakhīs, so rank follows the pull of the greatest bhāva, not any lack of qualification.

sveṣṭa-rādhā-ādi-bhāvasya — for the bhāva of their own beloved Rādhā and her circle; lobhāt — out of longing; sakhya-rucim — a taste for friendship; dadhuḥ — they took on.
The quotation's second line: '…out of sheer longing for the bhāva of their own beloved Rādhā and her circle, they took on a relish for being friends [rather than leaders in their own right].' Their longing to share Rādhā's very mood is what makes them prefer sakhī-hood.
Why cited: Completes the proof (second line of the quoted couplet): the chief sakhīs set aside their own leadership out of longing for Rādhā's bhāva.

The quoted couplet is Ujjvala-nīlamaṇi 3.61 — an earlier verse of this very work, cited back on itself.

Why cited: Gives the provenance of the quotation — UN 3.61, from earlier in the same text — adduced to seal the yūtheśvarī rule.
