An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse) for the messenger-sakhī who reaches Kṛṣṇa upāyana-vyapadeśena, 'under the pretext of [delivering] a gift' — here a garland (see the unit's lead-in). Per Viśvanātha, Rati-mañjarī, sent with the garland, has her cloth seized by Kṛṣṇa and speaks these lines.
