Jīva picks up the verse's phrase 'toward the hero she is mostly harsh' in order to explain it.

Jīva's gloss: toward the hero she is simply hard. The 'eva' shuts the door — with him it is hardness and nothing else.

abhedyā — [on] 'unbreakable'; nāyakena iti gamyate — 'by the hero' is understood [as the agent].
For the verse's word 'abhedyā' (unbreakable), Viśvanātha says we must supply 'by the hero.' She is the one the nāyaka cannot break — cannot win over or bend.

nāyake viṣaye prāyaḥ kaṭhineti kāṭhinyasya sārvadikatve lalitādīnāṁ sama-snehatvānupapattiḥ syāt |
nāyake viṣayethe hero being what her hardness is aimed at reads the verse's nāyake as a viṣaya-locative: 'in the matter of the hero'नायक रूपी विषय में
prāyaḥ kaṭhinā itithe verse says only 'mostly hard' — hence the word prāyaḥ glosses krūrā by kaṭhinā and fastens on prāyaḥ'प्रायः कठोर' — इस पाठ में (क्रूरा को कठोरा से समझाते हुए 'प्रायः' पर बल)
kāṭhinyasya sārvadikatvefor were her hardness total, pointed in every direction locative absolute stating the rejected hypothesisयदि यह कठोरता सर्वत्र (सदा-सब अवस्थाओं में) होती
lalitā-ādīnāmthen for Lalitā and the other [vāmā sakhīs]ललिता आदि (सखियों) का
sama-snehatva-anupapattiḥ syāttheir equal love [for both Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa] could not hold anupapatti 'fails to be established'; the absurdity that forces the reading 'mostly'समान स्नेह होना असंगत ठहर जाता
nāyake viṣaye — the hero being the target; prāyaḥ kaṭhinā iti — [the verse says] 'mostly hard'; kāṭhinyasya sārvadikatve — were the hardness total; lalitā-ādīnām — of Lalitā and the rest; sama-snehatva-anupapattiḥ syāt — equal love would become impossible.
Why does the verse say 'mostly'? Viśvanātha: her hardness is aimed at the hero. But if it were total — hard toward him in every way — then vāmā sakhīs like Lalitā could not have sama-sneha, equal love for both Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Since they do love both equally, the hardness cannot be absolute. That is why the verse says 'mostly.'

Viśvanātha reads L2's 'when that sulk slackens, she is angry' as an a-fortiori. Even the slightest loosening of her māna already makes her flare up. So imagine if it were dropped altogether — the anger would be far greater. That is the point.
