adhika-prakharāḥ śyāmā-maṅgalādyāḥ prakīrtitāḥ ||

श्यामा, मंगला आदि जो सखियाँ हैं, वे अत्यन्त प्रखर स्वभाव की मानी गई हैं। 'अधिक' शब्द बता रहा है कि इनकी प्रखरता सबसे ऊँची श्रेणी की है।
This line assigns named gopī-sakhīs to a temperament grade. prakhara means bold, keen, sharp-tongued; adhika ("surpassing, extra") marks the highest step of that quality. Both meanings are read straight off the compound's own words.
यह पंक्ति नाम लेकर कुछ गोपी-सखियों को एक स्वभाव-श्रेणी में रखती है। 'प्रखर' का अर्थ है साहसी, तीखा, मुँहफट। 'अधिक' अर्थात् बढ़कर, अत्यधिक — यह उस गुण की सबसे ऊँची सीढ़ी को सूचित करता है। दोनों अर्थ समास के अपने ही शब्दों से सीधे पढ़े जाते हैं।
