Viśvanātha reads the scene like this. The friend teases the nāyikā: 'Friend, your wish has come true! Look — Kṛṣṇa is walking right up to you. So go on, throw him a sidelong glance!' For teasing her so, the friend got struck with flowers — the flustered nāyikā pelted her.
'हे सखी! तेरा मनोरथ सफल हो गया, क्योंकि यह कृष्ण तेरी ओर मुख किए आ रहा है; इसलिए इस पर अपना कटाक्ष अर्पित कर' — ऐसा हँसी-ठिठोली में कहती हुई सखी फूलों से मारी गई।
