vraja-pateḥ [sutaḥ] — [the son] of the lord of Vraja; sādhvīnāṁ vrata-hara-vinode prasiddhaḥ — is famous in the sport of robbing chaste women of their vows
This son of the lord of Vraja is famous for one sport — robbing chaste women of their vows.
An udāharaṇa (illustrative verse), opened by the lead-in 'yathā vā', 'or as follows'. Viśvanātha reads it as placed here to show that the earlier definition's word 'puraḥ-stha' — the go-between 'standing before' the pair — takes in both the immovable (sthāvara) kind and the movable (jaṅgama) kind. The scene: a woman, worn out in a creeper-choked bower, warns her tender friend about Kṛṣṇa in his very presence — the warning itself a pretext (vyāja).

Viśvanātha: the earlier definition's word 'puraḥ-stha' — the go-between 'standing before' the couple — is meant to cover both kinds, the immovable (sthāvara) and the movable (jaṅgama). To make that plain, Rūpa adds this example, opening 'yathā vā', 'or as follows'.
sthāvara vs jaṅgama go-between: a sthāvara ('immovable') dūtī is a fixed thing pressed into the errand — here the creeper-bower that hems the pair in and shuts others out; a jaṅgama ('moving') dūtī is an animate messenger who comes and goes. Viśvanātha's point is that the one word 'puraḥ-stha' embraces both.

'granthilā' — the bower knotted thick with creepers — means no one else can get in. The tangle seals the two of them off. This creeper-tangle is the immovable (sthāvara) go-between.

From here Viśvanātha dramatizes the scene, composing Kṛṣṇa's coaxing reply in his own voice — an illustration, not a scriptural quotation.

Kṛṣṇa turns her own words back on her: 'śrāntā' ('worn out') becomes the reason to stay, and the creeper-bower — the sthāvara go-between that shuts others out — becomes his guarantee that no one else will intrude.
