devī nādya mayārciteti na hare tāmbūlam āsvāditaṁ
devī na adya mayā arcitā'Today I have not yet worshipped the Goddess (Devī)' — her excuse (na… adya, 'not today'; mayā, 'by me', is the one doing it) quoted excuse for refusing'आज मैंने देवी की अर्चना नहीं की' — (मना करने का बहाना); देवी = देवी, न अद्य = आज नहीं, मया = मेरे द्वारा, अर्चिता = पूजी गई
itiso [she said], and with that —— ऐसा (कहकर)
na tāmbūlam āsvāditamshe would not even taste the betel (tāmbūla); na…
hare — O Hari; 'devī na adya mayā arcitā' iti — [saying] 'I have not worshipped the Goddess today'; tāmbūlam — the betel; na āsvāditam — was not tasted.
'आज मैंने देवी की अर्चना नहीं की' — यह (बहाना) कहकर, हे हरि, (उसने) पान नहीं चखा।
O Hari — 'I haven't worshipped the Goddess yet today,' she said, and would not so much as taste the betel.
This verse is offered (yathā) as the example of the dhīra-pragalbhā nāyikā — the bold, self-possessed heroine who registers her māna (jealous sulk) through pointed, clever refusals rather than open scolding. Watch the pattern across the four lines: gift after gift is turned away with a barbed pretext.

śilpaṁ te paricityaonce one has seen through your (te, Kṛṣṇa's) artistry (śilpa) —तुम्हारी कला (शिल्प) को पहचानकर; ते = तुम्हारी, शिल्पम् = कला, परिचित्य = परिचित होकर
tapsyatishe will only be tormented [by it](वह) संतप्त होगी (भविष्यत्)
gṛhi iti'here, take it!' — the coaxing to accept gṛhi = gṛhāṇa, imperative 'take''ले लो' (गृहाण) — ऐसा (कहकर)
aṅgīkṛtā na srajaḥyet the garland (sraj) was not accepted (aṅgīkṛtā, 'taken on'; na negates it)(उसने) माला स्वीकार नहीं की; स्रज् = माला, अंगीकृता = स्वीकार की गई, न = नहीं
'śilpaṁ te paricitya — having seen through your artistry; tapsyati — she will only be pained' iti / gṛhi iti — [though urged] 'take it!'; srajaḥ — the garland; na aṅgīkṛtā — was not accepted.
'तुम्हारी कला को पहचानकर (वह) संतप्त होगी, ले लो' — (यह कहकर) माला स्वीकार नहीं की गई।
'Once you've seen through his craft, it only brings pain — so take it!' For all the coaxing, the garland went unaccepted.
tapsyati is third person ('she/one will suffer'), so the line reads either as the coaxer's warning or as the heroine's own cutting retort; the refusal stands the same way whichever way it is heard.

āhūtā asmi gṛhe vrajeśituḥ'I have been summoned to the house (gṛha) of the lord of Vraja (vrajeśitṛ — Nanda)' — her pretext for leaving āhūtā asmi = 'I have been called''मुझे व्रजेश्वर (नन्द) के घर बुलाया गया है'; आहूता अस्मि = मैं बुलाई गई हूँ, गृहे = घर में, व्रजेशितुः = व्रज के स्वामी का
itiso [saying] —— ऐसा (कहकर)
kṣipraṁ vrajantyāby her, as she hurried off (kṣipram, 'quickly'; the instrumental marks her as the one who left, and — into the next line — the one who did not listen)शीघ्र जाती हुई (भद्रा) के द्वारा; क्षिप्रम् = शीघ्र, व्रजन्त्या = जाती हुई (करण)
vacaḥthe words [spoken to her] — (carries over as the subject of aśrāvi in the next line)(कृष्ण का) वचन (को) —
'āhūtā asmi gṛhe vrajeśituḥ' iti — [saying] 'I am called to the house of Vraja's lord'; kṣipraṁ vrajantyā — by her, hurrying away; vacaḥ — the words [addressed to her]…
'मुझे व्रजेश्वर के घर बुलाया गया है' — यह (कहकर) शीघ्र जाती हुई (भद्रा के द्वारा), (कृष्ण का) वचन (नहीं सुना गया — आगे L4 में)।
'I've been called to the lord of Vraja's house,' she said, and hurried off — the words meant for her…

tasyāśrāvi na bhadrayeti vinayair mānaḥ pramāṇīkṛtaḥ ||
aśrāvi na bhadrayāwere not heeded by the good lady (bhadrā, the heroine) aśrāvi = passive aorist 'was heard'; na negates it; bhadrayā is the agentभद्रा के द्वारा नहीं सुना गया; अश्रावि = सुना गया (कर्मवाच्य), न = नहीं, भद्रया = भद्रा के द्वारा (कर्ता)
iti— so it went; and thus —— इस प्रकार (करके)
vinayaiḥ mānaḥ pramāṇīkṛtaḥby [all these] humble entreaties (vinaya) her māna (proud sulk) was only made the ruling authority — confirmed, set above every appeal (pramāṇīkṛta)(इन) विनयों (नम्र बहानों) से मान प्रमाणित कर दिया गया; विनयैः = विनयों के द्वारा, मानः = मान, प्रमाणीकृतः = सिद्ध किया गया
vacaḥ tasya — his words; bhadrayā — by the noble lady; na aśrāvi — were not heeded; iti — so it went; vinayaiḥ — by [these] entreaties; mānaḥ — her māna; pramāṇīkṛtaḥ — was made the ruling authority [i.e. only confirmed].
His words the good lady simply would not hear. And so, by every humble plea, her māna was only made the more unshakable — the very entreaties became its proof.
pramāṇīkṛta — literally 'made into a pramāṇa,' an authority or standard. The point of the whole verse turns here: each coaxing effort, far from dissolving her māna, only ratified it. That unbending anger, voiced through clever refusals, is the mark of the dhīra-pragalbhā.

pālyāḥ sakhī — the pālyā's friend; sva-sakhīṁ kāñcit — to a certain friend of hers; devī iti — [the verse] 'devī…'; pratyāha — speaks in reply.
A friend of the pālyā — the guarded heroine — is answering some friend of hers, and that is the verse beginning 'devī…'.
pālyā — in the nāyikā typology, a young heroine kept under the watch of elders or a duenna, so that her meetings with Kṛṣṇa must be stolen. Note the frame: Viśvanātha makes the dramatic speaker a sakhī addressing another sakhī, though the verse itself carries the vocative hare, 'O Hari'; the tension is left as it stands, not resolved.

kvācitka — a text-critical remark: the verse is not attested in every recension, so Viśvanātha flags it as of limited attestation rather than glossing it.
