Viśvanātha sets the dramatic frame. These are Vṛndā's words, spoken to Paurṇamāsī. He tags the verse by its opening word, 'rāsa...'
Vṛndā (who tends the groves) and Paurṇamāsī (the elder who arranges the pastimes) are stock figures of the Vraja drama; the verse is a speech that passes between them.

Viśvanātha quotes a couplet that paints the setting. On lovely Govardhana hill, where the air in every direction is sweet with spring blossoms, Kṛṣṇa stands, keen for the joy of the rāsa dance.
Why cited: quoted to fix the scene of the verse — Govardhana in spring, Kṛṣṇa poised for the rāsa — the backdrop against which the hiding-and-caturbhuja episode unfolds.

Viśvanātha now walks through the verse, adding the local lore. The rāsa-ground, they say, is the place called Parāsaulī in Govardhana's foothills; the grove where he hid is the spot still known in country speech as 'Peṭhā' — literally 'he entered' — in the Pravisuka forest. Why the trick at all? The gopīs had ringed the grove on every side, so he could not just slip away. So 'with a bold quick wit' means this: his mind seized on a sudden inspiration, 'I'll do it this way!' And that is how the four-armed form came to be displayed — to hide him now that he had been caught sight of.
Parāsaulī and 'Peṭhā' (from paiṭhā, 'he entered') are living Vraja place-names; Viśvanātha anchors the verse's kuñje and gopayitum to the actual local sites of the pastime.

Here is how the ruse plays out. The gopīs cry, 'Oh! This isn't Kṛṣṇa — it is a four-armed Nārāyaṇa form.' They bow to him and pray, 'Please show us our Śrī Kṛṣṇa,' and one by one they all leave. Then Rādhā arrives. And the greatness of her love turns utterly astonishing. That, says Viśvanātha, is what 'hanta' marks — wonder.
hanta is glossed āścarye, 'in wonder' — an exclamation of amazement, not lament.

Now he glosses the punch-line. 'By the śrī of which' — śrī here means simply the splendor of that greatness. By the sheer radiance of Rādhā's love, that four-armed form could not be held in place, even by Hari.
Viśvanātha reads śriyā as śobhā, 'splendor, radiance' (not 'wealth') — the glory of Rādhā's love is what dissolves the form.

Here is the mechanism, put as a comparison. Take Brahmā, Indra, Rudra and the other gods. Their lordship is real — but relative: they rule only over lesser beings. Stand them before the Supreme Lord and they are mere subjects; not a scrap of their own lordship shows in his presence. Yet it has not been destroyed — it is still there, eternally, only held in subordination. Now apply this to the Lord himself. Because he is subject to love, you might expect to say, 'his majesty ceases to exist before love.' But you cannot say that: his majesty is eternal, it never ceases. What happens is different — before love, it simply goes into hiding.
The analogy maps like this: the gods' subordinate lordship stands for the Lord's aiśvarya (majesty); the Supreme Lord before whom it hides stands for prema (love). Its point — just as the gods' power is not destroyed but merely unshown before their superior, so the Lord's majesty is not annulled by love but only hidden (tirobhavati). This is exactly why the four-armed form could vanish: not that his majesty was lost, but that before Rādhā's love it withdrew from view.

A likely objection is headed off. 'But majesty did sometimes appear — Kṛṣṇa showed the ocean-spanning bridge, the couch of Śeṣa, and such pastimes.' Yes — but even those displays happened only because Rādhā herself wished to see them. Her desire drew the majesty out; the majesty did not assert itself. This, Viśvanātha notes, is the tradition preserved across the Purāṇas.

samudra-bandhana (the ocean-spanning bridge) and śeṣa-śayyā (reclining on the serpent Śeṣa) are majestic Nārāyaṇa/Rāma pastimes; the tradition has Kṛṣṇa re-enact them for Rādhā at her own request — so even here majesty serves her love.

He backs the point with three passages. In the birth-chamber Kṛṣṇa spoke to Vasudeva and Devakī as the Supreme Lord — and they, awed, embraced him 'no longer daring' to treat him as their little boy. And Arjuna apologizes: 'whatever I blurted out too boldly, taking you for just a friend...' In all such cases the love is only near-complete (sampūrṇa-kalpa) — awe does creep in — and so the Lord's surrender there is likewise only near-complete.
Why cited: the three passages are adduced to document the 'near-complete' grade: Vasudeva–Devakī (Bhāgavata 10.85.20 and 10.44.51) and Arjuna (Gītā 11.41) all let awe of majesty loosen their relational love, unlike the Vraja people — so the Lord's subjection to them falls just short of complete.

One more refinement. Even among devotees to whom the Lord is subject, it is only where the subjection is the very fullest — Rādhā — that his majesty fails to appear at all. Compare petty kings. A provincial ruler may be subordinate to some overlord, yet still parade the trappings of his own kingship in various places. But set him before the emperor of emperors, and not a fraction of his own majesty dares show. Just so: before the fullest love, majesty shows nothing.
The analogy maps like this: the provincial kings stand for the Lord in his various loving relationships; the paramount emperor (mūla-cakravartī) stands for Rādhā's fullest love. Its point — a lesser subordination still lets some majesty peek out (as with the Vraja-folk and Nārada); only the supreme subordination, to Rādhā, hides it entirely. Where it stops: it illustrates the degrees of concealment, not that the Lord is literally outranked by anyone.

bhakti is tadīyā śakti — the Lord's own internal potency, not an external power like māyā. That is the whole answer to the jīva-sāmya charge: dependence on one's own blissful energy is no bondage, so no equality with the māyā-bound soul follows.

He seals it with a homely comparison. Think of lovers: to be ruled by one's own beloved is no disgrace — it is the very sweetness of love. Just so, the Lord's being ruled by devotion is his glory, not his fault.
the analogy maps like this: the lovers stand for the Lord, their beloved for bhakti/prema (supremely, Rādhā), their glad subjection for his pāratantrya. It shows the dependence is a chosen delight, the crown of love — and implies no lack in him.
