By defeating gold, her luster hints at a touch of vīra-rasa — the heroic mood of conquest — in this verse. This 'because' is the premise for the point that follows.
vīra-rasa is the aesthetic 'flavour' of heroism/victory. A conquest is being described (gold vanquished), so the mood is faintly present even in a love-poem of praise.

ojo-vyañjaka-varṇānuprāsaḥ — the ojas-expressing consonant-alliteration; na anupannaḥ — is not unwarranted.
So the rough consonant-alliteration — those repeated ṣṭ clusters — carries ojas, the quality of force, and is therefore entirely fitting here. Since a note of vīra-rasa was just shown to be present, and vīra-rasa calls for the forceful ojas quality, the harsh sounds are no accident: sound matches mood.
In Sanskrit poetics the guṇa (quality) called ojas — vigour — is carried by heavy conjuncts and harsh consonants and belongs to the heroic/fierce rasas; anuprāsa is alliteration, the repetition of consonants. Viśvanātha's point: the poet's grating ṣṭ-sounds are deliberate craft, tuned to the heroic undertone.
