This verse illustrates the ṣoḍaśa-śṛṅgāra (the sixteen adornments) set up in 4.7; the lead-in is atha dhṛta-ṣoḍaśa-śṛṅgārā, 'now, she who has put on the sixteen adornments'.

The verse beginning snātā — really a pair of verses — is spoken by Subala. Kṛṣṇa is coming back to Vraja in the evening. Subala points out to him Rādhā, who has gone into the pleasure-garden. So this is Subala describing her to Kṛṣṇa.
'स्नाता' से आरम्भ होनेवाले ये दो श्लोक सुबल का वचन हैं। वे सायंकाल व्रज की ओर लौटते श्रीकृष्ण को उद्यान में पहुँची हुई राधा दिखलाते हैं।
padya-dvayam: Viśvanātha reads this as the first of two verses Subala speaks, so his introduction frames the pair even though only 4.9 is decoded here.
