This is confirmed in the Brahmāṇḍa Purāṇa: what Dvaipāyana understood is not understood even by Brahmā and the others; he alone knows all that is knowable, for he understood that reality.

ब्रह्माण्डपुराण में भी कहा गया है कि द्वैपायन ने जो जाना है, उसे ब्रह्मा आदि भी नहीं जान पाते; उसने उस तत्त्व को जाना है, इसलिए वही सब जानने योग्य को जानता है।

reply

He states the reason for knowing truly with the words "they would speak": to one who is loving (snigdhasya, premavataḥ), they would indeed (uta) speak even what is secret (guhyaṁ).

'तत्त्वतः' जानने का कारण 'ब्रूयुः' पद से बताया गया है—प्रेमयुक्त शिष्य से वे निश्चय ही रहस्य की बात भी अवश्य कह देते हैं।

vidāṁ viduṣāṁ parāvare sa-guṇa-nirguṇe brahmaṇī vidantīti te |
On vidāṁ and parāvare — They are knowers among the learned who understand Brahman in its qualified and unqualified aspects.
vidāṁ, parāvare — वे विद्वानों में वे ज्ञाता हैं जो सगुण-निर्गुण ब्रह्म को जानते हैं।

grammar The optative verb 'they would speak' means that teachers speak even secret matters to a disciple who is affectionate toward his guru.
व्याकरण 'ब्रूयुः' यह विधिलिङ् बताता है कि गुरुजन गुरु-विषयक स्नेह रखने वाले शिष्य को गुप्त बात भी कह देते हैं।
tava ca sarva-rahasya-vijñatvam avagamyate |
From this it is understood that you know all the secrets.
इससे यह भी समझा जाता है कि आप सब रहस्यों के ज्ञाता हैं।
atas tān api prati svaṁ matam evotkṛṣya bruvato munīn apahāya sarva-mata-vaktā tvam evāsmābhiḥ pṛcchyase iti bhāvaḥ ||
Therefore, setting aside the sages who each speak only their own view, we ask you alone, the speaker of all viewpoints, to tell us.
अतः जो मुनि केवल अपना-अपना मत ही बढ़ाकर कहते हैं, उन्हें छोड़कर हम आप ही से पूछते हैं; क्योंकि आप सब मतों का कथन करने वाले हैं।
7-8||
Verses 7-8.
श्लोक ७-८।

They (vidāṁ) are the knowers among the learned who understand Brahman in its higher and lower aspects (parāvare), qualified and unqualified.

विद्वानों में वे ज्ञाता हैं जो सगुण-निर्गुण ब्रह्म को जानते हैं।

The optative verb "they would speak" means that to a disciple who is affectionate toward his guru (snigdhasya, one with snehavataḥ for his teacher), the teachers necessarily reveal even secret matters.

'ब्रूयुः' यह विधिलिङ् बताता है कि गुरुजन गुरु-विषयक स्नेह रखने वाले शिष्य को गुप्त बात भी कह देते हैं; अतः आप-जैसे स्नेही शिष्य के प्रति उनके द्वारा रहस्य का प्रकाश अवश्य ही होता है।

conclusion

From this it is understood that you know all the secrets. Therefore, setting aside the sages who each speak only their own view, we ask you alone—the speaker of all viewpoints—to tell us. This is the import.

इससे यह भी समझा जाता है कि आप सब रहस्यों के ज्ञाता हैं। अतः जो मुनि केवल अपना-अपना मत ही बढ़ाकर कहते हैं, उन्हें छोड़कर हम आप ही से पूछते हैं; क्योंकि आप सब मतों का कथन करने वाले हैं—यही भाव है।
