These four are the aṅgas of the Sātvatī-vṛtti defined in the previous kārikā (251). In the standard nāṭya vocabulary the same four run as utthāpaka, sallāpaka (= saṁlāpa), saṅghātya, and parivartaka; Rūpa here spells two of them uttāpaka and parivarta.
ये चारों उसी सात्वती वृत्ति के अंग हैं जिसका लक्षण पूर्व कारिका (२५१) में कहा गया। प्रचलित नाट्य-परिभाषा में यही चार उत्थापक, सल्लापक (अर्थात् संलाप), संघात्य और परिवर्तक नाम से चलते हैं; रूप गोस्वामी यहाँ दो को उत्तापक और परिवर्त रूप में कहते हैं।
