Here he defines the sandhy-aṅga called yukti. When the aims of the plot are worked out fully and settled firmly — with no loose end left — that settling is what is called yukti. So yukti is not 'reasoning' in the ordinary sense; it is the limb of the juncture in which the story's purposes get pinned down.
प्रयोजनों का जो भलीभाँति निर्णय होता है, वही 'युक्ति' कहलाती है। यहाँ 'युक्ति' का अर्थ प्रयोजनों का पूर्ण एवं दृढ़ निश्चय है — अधूरा नहीं, अपितु सम्यक्।
yukti ordinarily means 'reasoning' or 'a device'; as a nāṭya term here it is a sandhy-aṅga — a limb of the mukha-sandhi (opening juncture) — namely the clear determination of the plot's aims. The lead-in and the next unit illustrate it as the settling of Rādhā's all-surpassing excellences.
'युक्ति' शब्द का साधारण अर्थ तर्क या उपाय है; परन्तु यहाँ नाट्य की परिभाषा में यह एक सन्ध्यंग है — मुखसन्धि का एक अंग — अर्थात् कथावस्तु के प्रयोजनों का स्पष्ट निर्णय। भूमिका और आगे का अंश इसे राधा के सर्वोत्कृष्ट गुणों के निश्चय के रूप में दिखाते हैं।
