daśamyām putrasya .
daśamyām putrasya (‘on the tenth [day], of a son’) —
'दशम्यां पुत्रस्य' —
yājñikāḥ paṭhanti : daśamyuttarakālam putrasya jātasya nāma vidadhyāt ghoṣavadādi antarantaḥstham avṛddham tripuruṣānūkam anaripratiṣṭhitam .
The yājñikas recite: ‘At the time after the tenth [day] one should assign a name to the son who has been born: beginning with a voiced consonant (ghoṣavat-ādi), having a semivowel within (antar-antaḥstha), without vṛddhi (avṛddha), conformable to three generations (tripuruṣānūka), anaripratiṣṭhita (not founded on [a word for] an enemy).’
याज्ञिक पढ़ते हैं — 'दसवीं (तिथि) के पश्चात् उत्पन्न पुत्र का नाम रखे — जिसका आदि घोषवान् हो, जिसके भीतर अन्तःस्थ हो, जो अवृद्ध हो, जो तीन पुरुषों के अनुरूप हो, जो अनरि-प्रतिष्ठित हो।'
tat hi pratiṣṭhitatamam bhavati .
For that becomes most firmly established.
क्योंकि वह सर्वाधिक प्रतिष्ठित होता है।
dvyakṣaram caturakṣaram vā nāma kṛtam kuryāt na taddhitam iti .
‘One should make the name of two syllables or of four syllables, formed with a kṛt suffix, not with a taddhita’ — thus (iti).
'नाम दो अक्षरों का अथवा चार अक्षरों का, कृदन्त बनाए, तद्धितान्त नहीं' — इति।
na ca antareṇa vyākaraṇam kṛtaḥ taddhitāḥ vā śakyāḥ vijñātum .
And apart from vyākaraṇa neither kṛt-formations nor taddhitas can be known.
और व्याकरण के बिना कृत् अथवा तद्धित (प्रत्ययान्त पदों) को जानना सम्भव नहीं।
