३४४- उभे अभ्यस्तम्।344. ubhe abhyastam.उभे प्रथमान्तम्, अभ्यस्तं प्रथमान्तं, द्विपदमिदं सूत्रम्।ubhe is in the nominative, abhyastam is in the nominative; this sūtra has two words.एकाचो द्वे प्रथमस्य से द्वे की अनुवृत्ति आती है।The word dve is carried over by anuvṛtti from ekāco dve prathamasya.
छठे अध्याय के द्वित्वप्रकरण में जो द्वित्व किया गया है, उन दोनों का समुदाय अभ्यस्तसंज्ञक होता है।The collection of both members of the reduplication (dvitva) that is performed in the dvitva-section of the sixth chapter receives the name abhyasta.
द्वित्व का प्रकरण अष्टाध्यायी में दो जगह आता है- षष्ठाध्याय और अष्टमाध्याय में।The dvitva-section occurs in two places in the Aṣṭādhyāyī — in the sixth chapter and in the eighth chapter.यहाँ षष्ठाध्याय के द्वित्व प्रकरण को ही लिया गया है, अष्टम अध्याय के द्वित्व को नहीं।Here only the dvitva of the sixth chapter's section is taken, not the dvitva of the eighth chapter.अतः अष्टमाध्याय के सूत्रों से द्वित्व होने पर उनकी अभ्यस्तसंज्ञा नहीं होगी।Therefore, when dvitva is effected by the sūtras of the eighth chapter, they will not receive the abhyasta-saṁjñā.
