२८४- इन्हन्पूषार्यम्णां शौ।284. inhanpūṣāryamṇāṁ śau.इन् च हन् च पूषा च अर्यमा च तेषामितरेतरद्वन्द्वः-in ca han ca pūṣā ca aryamā ca — of these an itaretara-dvandva:
इन्हन्पूषार्यमाणः, तेषाम् इन्हन्पूषार्यम्णाम्।inhanpūṣāryamāṇaḥ; of these: inhanpūṣāryamṇām.इन्हन्पूषार्यम्णां षष्ठ्यन्तं, शौ सप्तम्यन्तं, द्विपदमिदंinhanpūṣāryamṇām is in the sixth case (ṣaṣṭhī), śau is in the seventh case (saptamī); this two-word
सूत्रम्।sūtra.नोपधायाः से उपधायाः और दूलोपे पूर्वस्य दीर्घोऽणः से दीर्घः की अनुवृत्ति आतीFrom nopadhāyāḥ the word upadhāyāḥ, and from ḍhralope pūrvasya dīrghoʼṇaḥ the word dīrghaḥ, are carried

इन् अन्त में हो ऐसे शब्द, हन् अन्त में हो ऐसे शब्द एवं पूषन् और अर्यमन्Words ending in in, words ending in han, and the words pūṣan and aryaman —
शब्दों की उपधा को शि के परे होने पर ही दीर्घ हो, अन्यत्र नहीं।the upadhā of these words is lengthened only when śi follows, not elsewhere.
जब नपुंसकलिङ्ग के जस् और शस् के स्थान पर शि आदेश होता है, तब उसीWhen, in the neuter gender, the substitute śi takes the place of jas and śas, then, when that very [śi]
के परे होने पर दीर्घविधान करता है।follows, it prescribes lengthening.शि सर्वनामस्थान होने के कारण सर्वनामस्थानेSince śi is a sarvanāmasthāna, by sarvanāmasthāne
चासम्बुद्धौ से ही वहाँ दीर्घ हो सकता है, फिर दीर्घ विधान करने के लिए इस सूत्र काcāsambuddhau alone the lengthening could take place there; so the undertaking of this sūtra to prescribe lengthening
आरम्भ नियम के लिए है।is for the sake of a restrictive rule (niyama).वह यह कि इन्, हन्, पूषन्, अर्यमन् शब्दों में यदि दीर्घ हो तोThat is: in the words in, han, pūṣan, aryaman, if lengthening is to occur,
शि के परे रहने पर ही हो, अन्यत्र नहीं।it should occur only when śi follows, not elsewhere.सिद्धे सति आरभ्यमाणो विधिर्नियमाय भवति।siddhe sati ārabhyamāṇo vidhir niyamāya bhavati (a rule undertaken when [the operation] is already established serves for restriction).
इस तरह वृत्रहन् शब्द में सु के परे होने पर भी दीर्घ का निषेध प्राप्त हुआ तो अग्रिम सूत्रIn this way, in the word vṛtrahan, even when su follows, the prohibition of lengthening was obtained; so the following sūtra
सौ च का आरम्भ करना पड़ा।sau ca had to be undertaken.
