२६९- शरोऽचि।269. śaro'ci.शरः षष्ठ्यन्तम्, अचि सप्तम्यन्तं, द्विपदमिदं सूत्रम्।śaraḥ ends in the sixth (genitive) case, aci ends in the seventh (locative) case; this sūtra has two words.नादिन्याक्रोशे पुत्रस्य से न और अचो रहाभ्यां द्वे से द्वे की अनुवृत्ति आती है।From ‘nādiny ākrośe putrasya’ the word na is carried over, and from ‘aco rahābhyāṁ dve’ the word dve is carried over (anuvṛtti).
अच् परे हो तो शर् को द्वित्व नहीं होता है।When a vowel (ac) follows, a śar consonant is not doubled.
चतुर्+षु में अचो रहाभ्यां द्वे से वैकल्पिक द्वित्व प्राप्त होता है, उसका यह निषेध करता है।In catur+ṣu the optional doubling by ‘aco rahābhyāṁ dve’ is obtained, and this sūtra prohibits it.अच् से परे रेफ और उससे परे यर् ष् मिलता है।After a vowel (ac) comes the letter ra, and after it there is met a yar consonant, ṣ.अतः द्वित्व की प्राप्ति थी।Therefore doubling was obtained.यदि शर् से अच् परे हो तो द्वित्व न हो।If a vowel (ac) follows a śar consonant, then doubling should not take place.यहाँ पर ष् के बाद उ अच् ही है।Here after ṣ there is only the vowel u (ac).
चतुर्षु।caturṣu.चतुर्-शब्द से सप्तमी के बहुवचन में सुप् आया, अनुबन्धलोप होने के बाद चतुर्+सु में रेफ के स्थान पर खरवसानयोर्विसर्जनीयः से विसर्ग आदेश प्राप्त था तो रोः सुपि के नियम से रुक गया।From the word catur, the suffix sup came in the locative plural; after the loss of the anubandhas, in catur+su the visarga substitute for the letter ra was obtained by ‘kharavasānayor visarjanīyaḥ’, but it was stopped by the rule ‘roḥ supi’.रेफ को इण् मानकर आदेशप्रत्यययोः से षत्व होने पर बना- चतुर्+षु बना।Treating the letter ra as iṇ, when ṣatva takes place by ‘ādeśapratyayayoḥ’, catur+ṣu is formed.रेफ से परे षकार को द्वित्व प्राप्त था, उसका शरोऽचि से निषेध हुआ- चतुर्षु।The letter ṣa following the letter ra had obtained doubling, and that was prohibited by ‘śaro'ci’ — caturṣu.
रकारान्त शब्द के बाद बारी है मकारान्त शब्दों की, क्योंकि लकारान्त या ञकारान्त शब्द बहुत कम मिलते हैं।After words ending in the letter ra comes the turn of words ending in the letter ma, since words ending in la or ña are met with very rarely.
